Hi all,

I am so stressed and panicy right now I really need your help. We are at packet 3 stage of the K1 Visa.

I was talking my mum this morning and mentioned that the lawyer we are using couldn't spell things and we had luckily corrected them all. I just happened to mention that one of those errors was her name and he must have got mixed up and spelt it the same as my middle name as my mum's name is Elisabeth and my middle name is Elizabeth.

My mum then told me that it is spelt the same as my middle name! When I asked since when you as she has always told me it was with and s not a z, she replied that she has always spelt it with an s but on her birth certificate it is a Z she just never told me as she prefers how she spells it and did not think I needed to know.

So I dug out MY birth certificate and what I had never noticed previously is that it her name on it is spelt with a Z!

I am now panicing that the all thee documents that we have submitted so far are wrong, I can fix my packet 3 to spell it with a Z but then they wont match the documentation my Fiance submitted in the beginning. If I keep my docs spelt with an S then it wont match her name on my birth certificate.

What do I do?

Will this be a problem?

Do I just change things and spell it from now on with a Z and if it is brought up just explain?

We are so close (about 8 weeks away) and I could cry, I am so worried that we will get denied as our documents don't match or get a MASSIVE delay.

no, it won't be a problem. I totally messed up both my parents' location of birth on the application. When I got to the interview, I made sure I mentioned it and the CO made a note of it in the file and that was it. Simply putting an 's' or in place of a 'z' I am sure is no problem (since mine was no problem) but you might want to make mention of it in the interview.

good luck

How is your middle name spelled (or spelt?) in your passport? It could be an issue needing correction if your middle name is spelled one way in your passport and another way in the documents you've submitted...but its not something unfixable. :)

I wouldn't worry about it even if it turns out it was misspelled on the forms. If it was YOUR name misspelled, could cause a minor issue. Your mom's name with a one letter misspelling will not be an issue at all. It won't be brought up during the interview...relax :)
