Hi, Visa Journey guys,

I'm new here, just started to prepare to apply k1 visa, my boyfriend and I almost done with application, will mail this month. one thing I want to ask here is:

we have a letter from our friend, he wrote a letter for us, like how we met. and he signed his name on letter, is it ok that he just scan the letter with his signature and email us and we print it out? or have to get his original signature?

Thank you!

:)

Original signatures are usually the norm.

However, you do not need a letter from a friend describing how you met, you or your boyfriend will need to do that (read the I-129F instructions).

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

No letters from outside people are needed for the I-129F petition. All you need to do is BRIEFLY state on the I-129F how you met. If you choose to elaborate and can not fit the details in the space provided create an I-129F 'Supplement" sheet and elaborate there.

Read the K-1 guidelines and see example forms. You will find it's much easier to follow other people's examples who have had success.

Good luck,

Alan

I echo exactly what's been said. You don't need to worry about a letter from your friend as proof of meeting in person. Just read the guides and put in solid evidence of meeting in person. Good luck on your petition!
