hello everybody,

my fiancee can`t get off work for more than a weekend and that`s not enough to come visit me in Romania and go bk t work on monday so we decided to meet in Mexico, Mexico City (NOT near US border)We have never been to Mexico before.BUT i came across this today: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_4755.html !!!!!!!!!!

Any oppinions or words of advice?

I haven't read ALL the replies but I have been to Mexico many times and am familiar with some of the news going on there. Ultimately you want to stick with the most touristic areas. I am not sure about the price of flying from Romania, but Cancun is one of the cheapest places to stay and there are so many flights from the states to there. It's such a large touristic spot there is something for every budget, and you are not far from some amazing attractions. Another area near Cancun, Playa del Carmen has a much more 'Mexican' feel and you can get some good deals there too. Not to mention in both of these areas, if you are alone there are some point and on a resort, you are completely safe. Transport from the Cancun Airport to both these areas is very easy. Tons of cabs at the airport, just make sure to negotiate your price and currency before getting in!

If you have questions on any hotels just ask! I've seen a lot of the hotels there (for work) and stayed a lot of them too.

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

06/16/2015 Baby #2 due - homebirth in Scottsdale, AZ

we did think about Cancun or Cozumel but i can`t fly trough US cuz i`d need a transit visa and i don`t wanna complicate my case with that just to transit the airport in US,so i`ll take a flight that has a connection in Europe and then straight to Mexico city.And we will stay there cuz we just wanna be together no matter where and it will get too expensive to book another flight from Mexico City to Cancun.

Next time, & every time, please do (this goes for everybody). This is a way to see whether one's intended comment has already been made, or whether part or all of a situation has been resolved. At the least, it's a matter of showing full courtesy to others, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
