I have no basis for this, other than my gut instinct, but I seriously doubt you will be denied if the fingerprints come back negative. They told you that his visa would be given to him shortly. I know there's been a lot of back and forth and they're not the most reliable people over there (to say the least), but surely they would say something like "still pending" or "still undergoing review" if there was a chance his visa would be denied for suspicion of legitimacy of the relationship. They'd have no reason to say that, when they could just as easily have said "sorry, your case is still being processed." I think that when they went to issue the visa, that triggered some sort of name hit in a different database, and they want to resolve it so that they can issue the visa.

It sounds like y'all have cleared the hurdle re: establishing credibility of relationship (otherwise why would they tell you he would have the visa shortly if there was still some question as to fraud) and that the only one that's left is administrative processing/background checks. It doesn't seem like your petition was sent back to USCIS for suspicion of lack of legitimacy like some others here have experienced, but rather you had to wait for excessive background checks.

Sorry I can't speak from personal knowledge, but from an outsider looking in, this is what I see. Hopefully someone else will chime in who has some experience with this.

Hang in there! Try to think of it in a positive light, that someone is actively looking at your case and that things are starting to move rather than being stuck in permanent AR land. Maybe if you try to see it that way, you can get through this tunnel and see Mohammed's smiling face on the other end!

I feel for all you're going through. We're all rooting for you. Good luck!

Of course, no one can be certain. I'm sure that these extensive checks cost the govt a good deal of money, and they would not be doing them if they didn't intend to issue the visa. That's only logical, right?

Thanks guys. I'm sorry to be such a board hog and attention wh*re, but I'm utterly losing it to the point I'm afraid for myself. My mind is no longer rational because I'm just exhausted. You know what I mean. I'm sitting at my desk in tears and I CANNOT DO THIS AGAIN. So I put my fears on the board.

My gut was that this was just yet another procedure to go through, but you know those black thoughts creep in.

I appreciate the input. It's helping me try to think clearly. Thank god I have a ton of substantiations to do today. Means I go into focused robot mode and drown myself in work. But those black thoughts are like a stink that creeps in no matter how hard you are trying to focus otherwise.

My god... how do people survive this????

Just bless you all. (F)

I am going to ask Mohammed to read this thread, so if anyone wants to offer anything to him, please feel free. I can’t seem to offer him the peace of mind anymore. If someone else is able to find the right words, then I want him to find what it takes to make him feel ok again.

Now hopefully I can turn off my brain and get back to work. Thank you all.

I agree with MHandMB.

If your case was going to be sent back to BCIS for denial ie review, it would have been done shortly after the interview. This GOOD news!!!

This sounds like your DF had a "name hit". So the consulate is required to sent in his prints to verify it is NOT him.

Relax, pleaseeeeeeeeeeee. I am sure everything will be ok!

Hugs :)

I don't think they are going to bother with finger prints if they where intending on denying him. Stay positive

Can't say anything for sure but I would have to agree...

I thought of every possible worst case scenario during that time... I was convinced we would never get it - not for any reason other than it was taking so long and I felt that I was in a black hole... and no matter what people said to me about not thinking negative thoughts I still did, so i'm not going to tell you not to think them... BUT try looking on the bright side of things at least there is movement on the case and just take it a day at a time or an hour at a time depending on your mood... I wish you a speedy resolution insha'Allah - don't give up faith. (F)

How many prints did they take at the interview?

Index only.

Index only? Isn't that just standard procedure, nothing to do with a name hit?

I understand why you are stressing, its hard to trust this system with all of the ####### you see, but you are wayyyy to stressed. The chances of him getting the visa is much higher than not. Like Chi said, if your was going to be send back to the CIS for revokation they probably would have done it already. If they had anything else that would warrant a denial they probably would have done it already.

Hang in there!

I have had friends who have had name hits as well..basically somebody with his name (or very similar) has done something bad and they just need to make sure it wasn't your man that did it. They are just trying to be safe. I won't tell you not to worry coz the whole process is worrysome but I will say to do your best to be calm and when the name check/fingerprints clear , all will be smoothe sailing enshallah

Yup. sounds exactly like a name hit. My husband also had the name hit and had to have all 10 fingers taken to clear it. I can tell you THAT part of the process only took us 20 days. I dont know if thats standard or not.
