Error in marriage certificate

Hello everybody,

I have a slight dilemma. It occurred to me that in the translation of our Arabic marriage license/certificate there is a slight error.

Basically, it says that my wife and I resided at an address, together, that we did not. It appears they copied the address from her ID. Which she hasn't lived at since 2003. It also says I had residence until 3/2/2010. I was only in Egypt until 2/24/2010.

We are not sure why they put this in the license or why they got those details mixed up.

I fear that these errors, because they do not correspond with all my other evidence, will cause problems at the USCIS/NVC.

What should I do?

Should I have my wife take it to the ministry of affairs and have it corrected? and then translated again?

Thanks and please reply!

anybody?

Also, should I submit the original marriage certificate with the I-130 petition? Or is this for the DS230 later? I am rather confused. The guides don't make it so clear.

Hello~

Don't worry about the address info on the marriage certificate. They did the same thing to me and my husband too. I think it is the way they actually translate it. It stated that we lived at a certain address for so long.

We didn't have any problems with the marriage certificate. Don't send the original copy with your I-130. Just make a copy of all the pages of the certificate AND the english translation.

You will need to send in the original copy with translation with the DS-230 application(IV).

Good luck!
