Thanks everyone - well it didnt go as smoothly as I hoped. Basically they didnt accept the New Zealand police check I provided in packet 3 as it was issued by the Ministry of Justice, not the New Zealand Police and apparently the only people who can get my police check from the New Zealand Police is the consulate.

So I was approved but visa issuance and passport return wont happen til they get the police check back, however in saying that I was given a refusal worksheet lmao - yeah I'm confused too. But I heard the word approved and they're holding my passport so I'm kinda happy with that :D

Congratulations. Holding your passport is a very good sign, I am sure as soon as you get the right police report, your visa will be ready. Good Luck

Just talked to NVC...

Our case was sent off to Bogotá today! :)

So, whether it was in Additional Processing, was a very short AP, or the guy I talked to didn't have a clue, I'll never know (nor care!)

Oasis - Still hoping you hear something very soon!!

Oasis,

I'm still hoping you have good news waiting for you when you return.

And, I don't know, but it doesn't seem to get any easier after the NOA2... Nobody - not NVC, not the consulate in Bogotá - seems to know where our casefile physically is 11 days after leaving NVC. (Average delivery to Bogotá via DHL is 3 business days.) They have it electronically but tell me the physical file is not there yet...

After such a long wait at VSC, it feels like they must've written, in big red letters, on the outside of our case file:

DELAY THEM AT EVERY STAGE OF THE PROCESS

And, with a 16-day window, we really thought we could submit our packet 3 in time for the September interview scheduling cycle (late October-early November interviews) but it's looking less and less likely...:(

Oh well, I'm off to meet her for lunch downtown. At least we're together for the moment.B-)

Hi Oasis,

Yep, I'm still in Colombia for this week and the weekend.

Very interesting that you had a touch on the first petition, especially on a Saturday. I don't know what to make of it either but perhaps they've decided to pick it up and finally merge it with the second? Was the first ever officially closed out or just "sent back" to USCIS? Honestly, I have no idea how they work there so anything I say is 110% guess.

Really hoping you get some good news soon!

the first one was sent back - it took 3 months... my lawyer first wanted to withdraw it - cause thats what VSC said needed to be done.. sent a official withdrawl letter but then we decided not to do this and had them merged. Sooo.... weeks after.. with the help of my attorney and a liason that knows about our case they been merged. Which was not either but we figure if we leave them together, the IO in rio has a harder time doing the same thing again, sending it back.

Dont know what to make out of it, only that perhaps someone is looking at it... maybe someonme moved it out of the basement on to someones desk.

Enjoy your time in Columbia... :) I am in Germany at the moment :)
