sending iv packet today so i have question on divorce papers please help!

ok im sending iv packet today it just marked paid thank god!!! but my question is the divorce papers,, do they want any divorce papers that my husband had or do they want my divorce papers,, he was never married befor but i was ,, also i heard many times the consulate in cairo ask for the certified copys of my divorce papers so if i send mine today then that would mean i would have to go and geet thjem again, please answer me soon cause im sitting here wanting to run to postoffice hehe thanks!

yes, you need an original or certified copy of a divorce decree if either one of you has been married before. Original is better but if not, "Certified" copy, meaning a copy with court stamp and signature on it. No other way to go around it, otherwise they will delay your process....

I thought the IV package was all beneficiary?? Maybe it is different or maybe since I basically bypassed the NVC, they didnt get a chance to catch it. I did have to send a certified copy of mine when it was at the USCIS. I also gave my wife now a certified copy of the decree for the interview "just in case." but didnt send the one from me (USC) to the NVC.

read the instructions literally. If you read all the stuff on the NVC (DOS)site...ALL deals with the beneficiary....not petitioner. You should have submitted your divorce decree to the USCIS when you sent in the I-130.

The IV packet is only information for the beneficiary!!! You will need to bring the certified copy of your divorce papers to the interview!!! Don't worry Sis!!

Yes, the packet IV is regards information for the beneficiary. So, you should supply a divorce document in regards to the beneficiary, (not the petitioner). As stated earlier in this post..... if the petitioner was divorced... that paperwork should have been submitted with the I-130.

You do not have to send the original divorce decree with the packet. However, it should be a certified (notarized) copy with the court stamp and court official signature (also stated earlier) in this post. In most cases, even your "original" of the divorce record is actually a "copy" from the court. (The original is usually maintained in the court files).

Most importantly.... you can send a certified (notarized) copy in for the IV packet. But, just be sure your beneficiary takes a court certified copy with them at the time of the interview also. As long as the papers have the court stamp and the court official's signature. I don't think you are going to have any big issues about this.
