I NEED SOME ADVICE

I am so confused..please if anyone has advice..I sure would appreciate it. I have filed for a K-3 visa on behalf of my husband, in which I filed papers for the I-130 and the I-129F. We are both excited as both of the cases are now currently at the NVC. This is where the confusion lies....both cases are being processed seperately. Is this the normal procedure of processing for the K-3 visa? I have talked with customer service rep at the NVC and they have informed that I must choose one or the other when they are sent to Lagos. I have heard many horror stories of the Lagos consulate and I really need to have info on this.

your k-3 will get to the embassy in about a week or two, then your hubby can go pick up the packets for his interview with a copy of the approval notice( NVC will let you know when it has been sent and you can also e-mail the embassy to ask if they have received it) then u can prepare for that. You don't have to worry about choosing because your k3 will get through way before your I-130. Your I-130 will be at NVC from anywhere between 6weeks-3 months depending on how fast you are responding to them then another couple of months before you get the I-130 interview. Don't cancel anything just let them both continue going. The general rule is if the I-130 gets to the embassy first it cancels the k-3 but that won't happen because the I-130 takes much longer. My suggestion is to pick up your packets for the k-3 as soon as that case gets there and your hubby will be here sooner. I also suggest to read some of the guides on here about the k-3 versus the I-130/CR1 and all this will make more sense.

In most cases the K3 is processed quicker and many people choose to pursue that route instead of the Cr1 to get their SO to the US quicker. In our case the Cr1 was processed quicker and K3 was abandoned. It is up to you if you want to go through the AOS process in the US and get your SO here quicker or wait for the Cr1 and thus have no need for the AOS. You can check out timelines here of others to compare the difference and decide, but often the Cr1 is several months behind the K3.

Hey girl I was wondering did they expited your interview date for your husband? How did you find out when his date would be? OUr case has been completed for a while and we have been on this track far to long. Also we have had many interviews but none for a CR1 what kind of things does he need to bring to the embassy? Did you have anyone help you all with your case. Any help would be great thanks
