I have been to Davao City twice already and I can say it is a safe place to be in... I even went out there up until 3AM and there was no problem... People are generally warm and kind in Davao. Just follow your girl wherever she takes you and be vigilant. Have a safe trip and hope you will enjoy.. Dont forget to visit Samal Island and Crocodile Farm... :)

My Fiancee lives in New Visayas, Matanao, Davao Del Sur. I am planning a trip to Davao city to see her. I want to know if it is safe for me to travel to her home for the day? Has anyone spent tome in the Davao del Sur Province? her municipality in Matanao, and her Baracay ( town) is New Visayas. I want to visit her family for the day, but dont want to risk my life to do it.

Thanks

Gary

I have heard and seen at the TV ads that Davao is a nice place. Its my wish to go there but I am afraid for bombings, terrorism and kidnapping. I dont like to risk my husband's safety. I am sure that your girl will try to protect you. You will like the people and food. Just dont go to the mountain. Be vigilant.

I have lived here for a year now, havent been blown up or kidnapped yet, fact is unless you travel to jolo or cotobato you'll be fine. The NPA is in a differance with the government not tourists abu sayaff is located in jolo/basilan and thier numbers are dwindled to near nothing. I would rather travel here then NYC !

Yeah! The Punisher!

I have been to Bansalan area that's close to Matanao and had no problem during those trips but no one can really guarantee of our safety where ever we go. Be careful and don't wear expensive jewelries and keep your wallet safe too esp. when you arrive in Manila. Davao City is peaceful and safe to visit. If you will visit Matanao, it's a little town, you will see farms there. Good luck, be careful, be vigilant and have a safe trip! We'll be in Davao too by August (can't wait).

Wear a condom you'll be fine.

Oh... but contrair (your signature of "Listen up, maggot. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.") I am fearfully and woundrously made, unique, and personally chosen and God's own son. :) Adopted by him, and complete in him. Just had to comment on that when I saw such a signature. And you can be all that too! :) Ok... back to reading posts... God bless you all.
