Hello Everyone,

I have just starting to put together the K1-I129f. My Fiance lives in China and I am a U.S. citizen. As far as I understand my lady has to complete the "Fiance Letter of Intent" and also G-325A Biographic Information documents. Are these documents need to be signed by her with ink and mailed to me? Can she just fax this documents to me instead? Does everything need to be translated from Chinese to English including her name and address?

Thanks for the reply, I am sure that I will have more question later on.

Andy

You need to have original signatures, not scans or faxes that you submit to USCIS. Most folks on here recommend having your fiancee write in blue ink so it is very obvious that it is not a copy. Everything should be written in English/pinyin. Have you met the requirement of meeting in person in the past two years?

There are locations on the I-129F where she will need to write her name and address in her alphabet (writing system). That means unless you are able to write in Simplified Chinese she will need to fill out that part of the form or I guess you could have a native Chinese speaker/writer talk/write to her to get the proper characters for her name and address.

Yeah, you'll need to send in originals. Also, this may sound odd...but you might want to ask her to work on her signature. My girl didn't really have a signature as they don't really signatures out there for everything like we do here in the States. She practiced her signature for hours before she actually signed the 325 and letter of intent.

Not necessary - there is no requirement that forms be "signed" in cursize, this is only what most people typically expect. A "signature" can be printed in block letters!!! Or a scribble (this method usually requires the name to be printed next to the "scribbled signature". The "signature" should however, regardless of the type, use roman letters.

Bernie is correct, as is Mlbarb. However, this is CHINA. For the USCIS portion, the petition will not require a signature and should go through easily as long as the paperwork is in order, the USC is legally able to marry, and has met the 2-year meeting requirement. NOW, when this approved petition is sent to Guangzhou in a few months, they will look for anything to ding this couple on. It is better to have as complete, accurate, and front-loaded petition as possible prior to sending in for a Chinese SO. At the embassy they would ask for your girl's signature, this is one more thing you can avoid to cause confusion if you do it now. You shouldn't have any problems with your visa if everything is clean going in...but I have read too many stories of a VO having a bad day in GUZ..avoid this. Good luck!!! :star:

On the petition I-139f under question 18. "Describe the circumstances under which you met." How detailed this has to be? I had only wrote some quick sentences.:

" We had first meet on the internet using Chineselovelinks.com. After developing a relationship I have visited her in China on March 2010."

Is this is will be good enough? Can you give me some tips?

They're looking for the details of your physical meeting in the previous two years, not the story of the whole thing. Focus on the physical circumstances of your meeting that your documentary evidence will back up--your passport stamp to China and boarding pass. That's what this question is trying to establish--that you have met the in-person meeting requirement.

ETA: And no you don't have to write a lot. Just the facts of that meeting, the dates, the place. Two sentences. Attach a separate sheet if you don't have enough room and in the space provided on the form itself, write "see supplement for question 18." Then title your supplement page "Supplement for Question 18" and sign and date that page.
