Just Received Case Update

I just received an email that our case was approved by USCIS so I have some questions. My Jamaican husband and I have been married for three years, but I decided to wait to file until I was sure this was the best decision for our family. I have been over this site hundreds of times, but until now have yet to ppst. I have a few questions I would appreciate help with.....

I have filed both IR1 and k3, although both were approved at the same time, my guess is I will abandon k3 but still want to keep them both going at this time.

How many original copies of birth and marriage certificate will I need? My understanding is I will need to send one set now with DS-230 for IR1 and then another original for k3 interview if that happens before IR1 Interview.

Regarding the DS-230, it's my understanding that I can email the form, then follow up with a hard copy and orginal documents. Is this correct?

Anyone know how long it's taking them from case complete to schedule interview at Kingston?

And finally, I've read that it can take up to two weeks to recieve visa from Kingston, but standard is 3-5 days. Our hope is to fly back together, my thoughts were to schedule return flight a week after interview, and if we haven't gotten it by then, he will have to make the journey without me. Does this sound reasonable?

Thank you for all your help. Although I haven't posted, I have gained so much knowledge and emotional support from reading this site. I am sure you will hear from me more in the upcoming months.

Welcome! :star:

I would advise you to abandon the K3. It is a matter of weeks before you get your interview date if you follow up quickly with the NVC stage. Additionally you will qualify for the IR1 which means you don't have to worry about removing conditions so that removes two cumbersome stages of the process (AOS if you go with K3/removal of conditions)

You need one for the IR1 but it is prudent to have an extra copy just in case they misplace it. Like I said before ditch the K3 and work with the IR1

Regarding the DS-230, it's my understanding that I can email the form, then follow up with a hard copy and orginal documents. Is this correct?

That would be the DS-3032 which is the Choice of Agent Form and yes you can do that.

It can take between a couple days to 2 weeks for your interview to be scheduled between case complete and the interview

Yea 3-5 days is standard however I would not book the flight until the visa is in my hand. Trust me when I say you will drive yourself EXTRA crazy waiting for the visa if you go ahead and book that flight before. Save yourself from the hassle and just wait
