Wyatt, the trip is doable in three days but you are going to be one TIRED man at the end of it! Hubby and I drove (well, heh heh heh...hubby did all the driving) from Chicago to Seattle and it took us four days. I wasn't the greatest co-pilot either, falling asleep on him.

Have a safe trip and keep us posted!

FOUR days from Chicago to Seattle? What kind of mule were you riding? :P

I'll be passing through the outskirts of Chicago on the morning of the third day.

Wheeee!

Pretty amazing...had the interview on Friday, and just got the Passport with Visa back this morning! :D :D :D

I'm a tad peeved that they put it in the mailbox, even though I purchased a "signature required" sticker. But at least they used one of the package-sized auxiliary boxes (which needed a key) rather than try to cram it into the regular box.

When my mother saw the envelope she started bawling. :( I guess that's the only downside to moving down there...the family ties issue. I'm TOTALLY happy about it -- 100% -- but seeing my mother so sad takes a little bit of the enthusiasm out of it.

Oh well. It's just a LITTLE bit of the enthusiasm. I'm really thrilled! :dancing: :joy: :dancing:

congrats

i hope to join you soon

oh i hope mine fast like that

FOUR days from Chicago to Seattle? What kind of mule were you riding? :P

I'll be passing through the outskirts of Chicago on the morning of the third day.

We drove a mini-van, with two cats who have never traveled before...and a large LCD TV--we wanted to take it easy. The boy cat got agitated when we were crossing the rockies--I think his ears popped and he didn't like it.

Great way to see some of the country. Congratulations again to both of you. I've always appreciated your posts and your help and quick replies whenever I've PMd you.

Keep in touch on VJ when you can. You are on your way man.

Since you asked...

Man, you're hardcore!

This is my normal route from Winnipeg to Salt Lake City. The 2nd day, from Bismarck to Butte seems long to me :)

Have a good trip! Idrove from Winnipeg to DC in 2 days, and that was 2 full days of driving, leaving Winnipeg in the early AM and arriving in DC late at night, with a 1 night stop over somewhere. That was in Jan 2003. Didnt make the best time as was driving thru a blizzard thru a portion of it!! If ya have a GPS, one can download all the Tim Horton stores into it,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
