I had my N400 interview today, and it left me wondering because it took 5 minutes, this is what happened:

the IO called my name, and he seemed to be in a hurry. as i was walking to his office he asked me if i was still married, i said yes. that was the only question he asked me other than civic test questions, then he asked me to swear fast and sat down, and gave me like 4 papers to sign, and asked me 6 civic test questions, i answered them. and he said i passed and i should receive an oath letter in 2 to 3 months, i said that i have speeding tickets, he said you are fine congratulations.

I was really wondering if this fast test or interview whatever it is because i could not figure it what it was, would effect my application. he did not asked me questions about my relationship except if i was still married, he did not ask me for proofs, he did not even give me time to ask questions about my application and oath letter. hope everything is fine.

Congratulations! It doesn't matter what the procedure is, in my opinion, as long as you pass

Meod-Congrats on passing your quick interview today, thanks for sharing about that on vj, and good luck in getting and oath date soon too... :star::thumbs: Lol...Don't worry about your interview being too short, as interviews like this are usually 5-10 mins in length (mine was sort of like that too..only 10 mins....spent more time driving to get there and waiting afterwards for oath arrangements though..but that's another story..).The important thing is that you passed, then so be it. Besides, do you really want to be in a USCIS office longer than you should....lol..just kidding..but yeah...it's better to have a quick interview then to have a slow one!

You're fine. You obviously had everything you needed in your file (accumulated over the years), your marital status hadn't changed, you answered the test questions correctly and you swore that everything you had on the application was true :) . There was obviously nothing in your file to cause the examiner to think you didn't qualify for citizenship and she didn't need to waste time trying to find something that wasn't there. Citizenship interviews generally are pretty short and quick unless there are problems, so you should be receiving your oath ceremony invitation very soon. Congratulations!

I was asked 6 questions, where is the statue of liberty? Name one Native American tribe? Who is the speaker of the house? Whets the supreme law of the land? Name two of the original states? Who is the president now?

After I was done he told me I passed the test and I should get the ceremony letter in 2 to 3 months, don’t they tell you if your are approved or not? He did not tell me that all he said is that I passed the test and I should be getting my oath letter in 2 to 3 months. Whets the next step now? How would I know that my interview was approved?

When you are told you passed, then you are approved. The next step is to get the oath letter, show up for the oath and you will be done

Yes, when he told you you would get the interview letter in two months or so, he was telling you you are approved. They don't send out an oath ceremony letter unless you passed and are approved to become a US citizen. Congratulations!
