To the OP -- you have my condolences. It has happened on more than one occasion that passports were held up unaccountably for very long periods of time for no apparent reason (I seem to recall Mags had a hold up of four weeks that was unaccountable). It may be difficult to get elected officials involved at this stage of the game because it is still actually within normal processing times. (Really. I know it doesn't seem like it compared to other people, but it is.) It's still worth having a go but don't be surprised if they come up with just as little info as you. It is possible that an enquiry could shake something loose though. The only other thing I can think of is emailing the other London email address which has been mentioned a couple of times -- LondonIV@state.gov -- with your case number in the subject line along with an annotation of "URGENT". No guarantees, but it's worth a punt.

Really hoping you hear some better news soon. :)

Thanks :) I know that getting a Congressman involved will probably not do much, and my husband isn't too optimistic at what he could do at this point as it is still within official normal processing times...but it can't hurt!

Um...DOS has given me incorrect information many times, as it has with many other members posting here on the UK board. Just look in the 2010 interview thread and the last few months of the 2009 thread. Maybe what you wrote was true in the past??

I suppose I should have qualified my answer for AP being in higher-fraud countries; I thought it was obvious, but not so with newer posters, I'll grant you.

Don't worry, I knew what you meant, but it doesn't apply :)

There are some post-interview checks done, believe it or not. Sorry not to be up to date with all your info, but did you get them the passport photos they didn't ask for? I really mean it when I say good luck -- this must be doing your head in!

Interesting that the DOS is so all over the place recently in terms of accuracy of info -- I do wonder though if it's just the DOS that's having issues compared to the info from the embassy, or if the embassy info is similarly poor.

It may be that the embassy isn't giving them the info it should because DOS told me I didn't have an interview date yet less than 12 hours later a letter arrived through my letter box and yup... an interview date.

I was actually in the US until a few days before the interview, and I made sure I had my passport photos taken there...I had them with me, but they never asked for them, or anything else, and it wasn't until I got home I realised and thought how ironic! Thanks for your good wishes, this forum really does help...either someone's been there done that, or knows of a similar story.

As for the DOS and the USE...all I know is that I don't like bureaucracy!!

Hey, at least you got a letter from them, I didn't even get that!

To be fair they are dealing with a huge number of cases, if only they could be a little more efficient...

So you never handed them over? Could that be what they are waiting on?

I would think if you didn't turn in your passport photos that THAT is the hold up.

Ummm, no, I still have them!! As I said, it wasn't until I got home that I realised I was never asked for them...even though I had my envelope of documents on the counter in front of both officers I saw...ok, that could be it...but wouldn't they then say something later? Ok, so how do I hand them over now...do I just send them in with my case number etc? Arrrgggghhhhh I don't believe it!!!!

Email the embassy (you have the code now, right?). Don't discuss it over the phone cos you're just speaking to a call centre agent. Come to think of it I had to offer up my photos as well... they would have forgotten mine too, perhaps!

Phew, I was hoping someone would say that as I've just sent an email doing precisely that! My husband wonders why we didn't think of it before...post-approval relief and complacency I suppose...

Thanks again, fingers crossed!

Those photos are usually submitted during NVC processing, UNLESS yer a DCF case.

are you a DCF case?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
