The thread involved has been reported to Captain Ewok and we can see what he decides about it. That being said, sometimes it is hard when you are the only mod on line at the time and you try to make the best decision you can under the circumstances. If there had been someone else available I am sure Charles would have happily referred the thread to their attention. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Even Captain Ewok has been known to have to work and sleep at times (I know, ridiculous, isn't it, to have a life outside of VJ ) and sometimes responses are not as quick as we would like them to be. It would be great if we could come up with the perfect responses at the perfect time all the time, but unfortunately, I honestly don't see that happening. We do the best we can and sometimes, maybe it isn't enough. So, I think the ideal thing to do now is to let Captain Ewok handle things.

btw Ovaltine Jenkins, I also responded to your PM. You may not have been ignoring the proper process, but Mox certainly was.

I'm with the mods on this one. Plain and simple, mox violated TOS, and you can only do that for so long before it catches up with you. Usually they're good about giving a "gentle warning" and if you continue to violate it - especially blatant violations - then you will be locked and thrown out.

Some of the stuff is funny and yes, we have a more liberal "interpretation" of the TOS here in the RUB forum. But, blatant violations of TOS have never been tolerated anywhere.

Quite frankly, I'd love it if we kept all the juvenile TOS-line-toeing posts in the Off Topic forum. That's where they belong anyway. This forum is for rich old bald guys with smokin-hot wives, pie and guns. Period.

Well, I actually found the thread to be interesting on the level of cultural adaptation and international family relationships. The conversation wasn't exactly civil the whole time, but I actually felt it was going somewhere. I definitely feel like it was out of line to close the thread. Yeah, Mox violated the TOS by reopening the thread, but I think Charles was out of line to start that.

It looked to me like charles! (who we all know gets along with mox about as well as VV) posted a warning to the extent of "tone it down" and was not only brushed off, but told to stfu. Now, realizing that's just how they play together, it's not that big of a deal but a few posts later when the "debate" of the thread - which was about cultural dislikes (always a TOS gray-area in and of itself) - continued to be infused with low points instead of "debate" the thread was closed.

Blatantly reopening a thread that's been posted as "do not reopen" is a direct violation of TOS and subsequent suspension follows.

Whether or not you agree with why the thread was locked, it was locked, and it was locked because of TOS violations.
