Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Mesa, Ariz. discusses an immigration patrol that his deputies conducted in eastern metro Phoenix. The patrols are the subject of a lawsuit that alleges his deputies racially profiled Hispanics. His office admits destroying some traffic-stop records of the patrols, but says it was an honest error and that deputies didn't racially profile people during the patrols.

Annie, I CAN believe it! I only see tumbleweed if I'm going down I-10 to Tucson or if I'm heading east on I-40 towards NM. Although, I've seen them once or twice on the freeways during monsoon season. That is happening less and less as the population increases around here.

I'm sorry about your company. I don't know what else to say but I am sending positive thoughts your way. And Sheriff Joe...OY! He and County Attorney Thomas are in a dirty bed together, I think. Did you see though that he finally got stopped yesterday by a judge and thrown off a case for bias? At least someone is starting to take note. Do you think the heat on Arpaio is because Napolitano is in DC now? Ah, politics!

Thanks Vanessa. I am doing ok w/ the merger. I realize I may have more time then most as I will have to help them transition some folks out. Plus I feel confident about finding a new role at another place...I've been here 10 years...that means something when you're job hunting. Plus, thank god I have huge sourcing of HR contacts and friends over the years so I know it will be ok one day in the future. Just heartbreaking to leave all our friends, etc.

I think you may be right about the heat on Arpaio. He's such a dirty lil dog. The sad part is he had some great ideas on cost cutting ways in the past..however, he has an angry racist heart which rules his decisions. It's sad that more than half the attorneys and politicians I do know can't stand him...what does that say?!? LMAO (no offfense to the legal folks here! HEHE). They are all waiting for his ship to sink...tho, the "people" keep voting him in! Go figure. (hmmm...who are those people?!?! LOL)

Just wanted to check in from over in Jordan. It's raining here today. About 50. But that's better than the snow I hear they are getting back home in West Virginia! Hope it stops before I go back home! This has been the WORST winter!

Jeanne I know what you mean! I still cringe when I think about that one really bad day with the dust storms and the big pile up around Casa Grande. Besides with all of the coyote smugglers it can be dangerous. How much does that affect Tucson?
