Questions Regarding G-325a Form, and Cr-1

Hi everyone in the process of filling out all the necessary forms to have my wife immigrate from canada to the U.S. We were just married Oct 10th 2009, and in the Province of Ontario it takes FOREVER to get your marriage Certificate. We have finally got it and eager to finally get started. We were both reviewing the guide for the Cr-1 Visa, and have a few questions before we start.

On the G-325a form, I notice that there is a field that says "File Number" Where do we get this "File Number" from. If we are initially filling out these forms we wouldn't have one I suppose.

Our next concern was at the bottom of this form it asks for an alien registration number. We also don't have that since we are both natural citizens of the U.S. and Canada.

The last question I had, was if anyone had a template for an example cover letter for this type of Visa. I saw one for the Fiance Visa, wasn't sure if we could use that format it to fit the type of visa we are using. Any other suggestions and tips while we get ready to take off on this Journey would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks So Much

Much Love

Please consider reading the FAQ's and Guides before posting.

I did read the FAQ and Guide, it doesn't answer any of my questions. Which is why the forums here to help right?

The guides will tell you that if the answer is "None" to write "none". So will the example forms. Actually, the naturalized US Citizen DOES have an A number but if it is not known, the guides will tell you two write "unknown". Make sure you carefully study all form instructions too.

We're here to answer questions but these questions indicate a lack of homework on your part.

I am sorry if it appears that way, but I honestly just looked at the example forms and no where does it say what you just said. I also carefully looked at the CR1 guide and it doesn't say anything about what you said neither. If you can direct me that would probably be a greater help. I appreciate it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. But it doesn't and if I by any chance am over looking where it says that please direct me. I honestly don't see the answer to my questions. I just did a forum search and got the answer, but where your directing I honestly didn't see.

Thanks in Advance..

One of the nice things about some people here is that while directing you to the guides, they go ahead and answer your questions like I did. I'm happy to take the time to answer your questions but please don't make a pest of yourself asking others to point to the precise spot in the guides where your questions are answered.

I was actually confused myself when I first started. There seems to be 3 "A numbers."

1. There's the "A number" that's found on the upper right corner of the Certificate of Citizenship.

2. There's the "A number" that is the number that gets issued when the petition is finally filed.

3. There's the "A#" that's the alien registration number.

I'm actually curious what the error rate this generates and perhaps if the UCIS can make these differences a bit clearer in their forms, it would help a lot of folks when they're first filing the petitions.
