Wait and watch and be prepared at the interview, assuming your petition IS approved.

The petition will be approved (well not denied based on this thread's topic) by the USCIS. It's the interview where there could be issues.

I suggest not waiting but......get moving. Start doing your homework. Thoroughly research your consulate's specifc information and when and how couples were both approved and denied and for what reasons (both yes and no).

Then start generating evidence to work to your behalf. Don't give me "We don't email, only IM chat." stuff. You both NEED to be extraordinary to be successful in this extraordinary relationship.

You can do it but you must be prepared. We all wish you luck.

Hint: Your luck will improve with hard work.

first up thanks once again for everyone that replied.. honestly i'm stressed and worried so some comments got under my skin but over all i know everyone means well and has gone through the whole ordeal of waiting and waiting and hoping to reunite with their loved ones so no need to start fist fighting...

but after reading everyone's input i started thinking about some other options and now i would like to hear your thoughts on this:

i sent my petition on jan 25th and still haven't received a NOA1 even though i got my receipt number on the back of the check.

I know it's still here in california processing center and is far from Islamabad consulate... so what do you guys think about if i withdraw my petition at this stage. Call them or write

a letter asking a cancellation of my petition and then after i receive cancell notice go ahead and submit a brand new packet with evidence and select my emails/chat logs that were free of wife remarks

Is this a good idea?

What's the process of cancellation and how long does that usually take? I know that on reapply i have to answer the box did you submit before with yes and time and such and for results i can write withdrawn.

what do u think?

please give me some pointers knowing my background already in regards to my first mess up. I just don't want to jeopordize our case and have it denied and pretty much be left in the cold based on the first submission.

please advice...

thank u.

You sent in in on 1/25--have you called about why you don't have your NOA1 yet? Has your check been cleared?

yeah i sent on actually 1/22 and they received 1/25 .. check cleared and i got the receipt number from the back of the check so i can see it online as being entered in their system.

I called last friday and the lady said the NOA1 must have been lost so she re-verified my address and said she'll issue a new receipt and it won't delay my case... now i'm at

a fork in this K-1 visa path...

option 1) Cancel/withdraw and reapply with new evidence before it even gets to consulate (not sure if they will still keep my first application +evidence and still send that to consulate as well)

option 2) just let this case be on its way and pray to god all goes well and as many stated prepare evidence that clearly shows we are planning a wedding in california

with hall reservation and wedding invites and so forth...

the only comfort i have for the last few weeks of research is that i haven't heard much denials or case rejects for things like our case and only see AP for K-1/K-3 visas for men that are trying to obtain entry into USA

from islamabad... peitioner is a US citizen FEMALE... while beneficiary is Pakistani/Afghan citizen MALE... while our case is the opposite i'm US citizen and my fiancee is an Afghan refugee living in pakistan.

Plus so far i've heard Pakistan has a more softer stance on Afghans and prefers getting rid of them by letting them to obtain visas and leave instead of their own Pakistani nationals.. from cases heard on here as well

as my other distant relatives that have left through Islamabad to Canada/USA/Australia.

please advice on what most of you deem the better option.

and baron i take back my bad remark about the russian mail order bride... i realized later on you meant no harm by your remark about people lying and i could understand that you once yourself waited on your case and i read your thread on having headaches trying to bring ur loved ones here and i later regreted saying that to u.. i was just stressed and angry at myself for messing up and it tore me to pieces to see my fiance

down and sad on skype video chat so hearing "liar" as a reply just made me more angry...

but i hope you didn't take it the wrong way....

honestly at this point i've been humbled and floored and all i can ask is that you guys pray for us... i swear to all that is good and sacred that we are good people and honest and i guess like that

green day song "nice guys finish last" it seems a bit true for my situation right now but i must not lose hope... it's all i got :)

Hey, don't stress out too much about it. We all understand how tough and gruelling this process is. I think it'll be fine, at least petition wise. So carry on with this for now. Like I said, be prepared at the interview to answer some questions, if the issue comes up.

No problem. I didn't mean to be mean. Stop writing those words in yoiur emails to each other (on the phone is OK).

Go to your regional forum here on VJ and start doing your homework on the problems and non-problems others have had going through your consulate.

And, you two start generating tons of different evidence, emails, letters sent to each other, affidavits of support from both sets of parents, etc etc.

Your work has not stopped.

Your petition has been submitted, you want this, you two need this, you two go for it now. No need to stop. Vernture forth and conquer!!!

Agreed. You've started the process and nothing you've said you wrote is something that would instantly make me think they would deny it. Pull together documents for the wedding, statements from the minister saying he is going to do your ceremony that day, florist bills for the day of the wedding, anything and everything you can to prove you are getting married and that you are NOT married YET.

"You don't marry someone you can live with, you marry the person you can't live without."
