After lurking for a few weeks reading everyone's posts, I finally signed up and am offically here. I'm a USC born and raised, sponsoring my CDN spouse. We lived in the US for 2 years, then in Canada for 12, now starting all the paperwork over again to move to the states once more. It's amazing how much the requirements have changed since the mid 90's. Just filed all the paperwork for I130 & K3, but they were not received for processing till after Feb 1st, so we're waiting to hear the response about the K3 portion of the application. Still hoping that somehow they'll process our K3.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all and can relate to many of your stories. I still remember 14 years ago trying to figure out if I should apply for a fiance visa or just get married. We both knew we were going to eventually get married, so we bypassed the fiance visa and just got married.

Hi Astronaut,

Welcome to VJ, Astronaut! I hope you will find VJ to be helpful and informative too! :star:

I agree, immigration surely has changed over the years....with fee increases, more paperwork, and whatever else....

Heck, I wonder whatever happened to the days when one would just marry an American and become an American Citizen right away without dealing with the USCIS....Sigh....lol....Way before my time...blah......

Hope the process goes smooth for you now, many years later...."better late than never"....I suppose.....

And if you want to explore further immigration options, feel free to ask here on vj about that too, as we've all pretty much "been there, done that" or are "going through that".....

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your journeys too.

Thanks everyone for your wishes. Yes, we're going the K3 route if possible as we do live in BC and the whole trip to Montreal and proof of domicle situation seems like a hassle if it can be avoided.

Your question about which country I like best...that's hard. I like them both for different reasons I guess. Can't believe how much I've learned about the rest of the world while living in Canada for 12 years. Miss friends, family and lower cost of living in the midwest.

I'm crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that the K3 does get processed and not administratively closed. We'll keep you posted. Thanks again!
