Medical no later than six weeks before travel?

On the consulates website in Frankfurt it says:

"You should schedule your medical appointment no later than six weeks before your intended date of departure to the United States, and no earlier than six months before your departure date. "

Is that really true?

Because I got my appointment date for the interview today with an appointment for the medical *yay*

But it's on March 1st and I intend to travel on April 6th since my fiancé's birthday is on April 8th and it's very important for me to be there for his birthday.

Well, it's only 5 not 6 weeks after the medical.

Will they make a deal out of it? I wrote to the consulate in my DS-156 that I intend to travel on April 6th.

I have an appointment for a medical in Dortmund in Tuesday, but I wanted to cancel that because my medical in Frankfurt is before my interview and in Dortmund they already told me that they are not going to give me a copy of the Vaccination Sheet.

But if the 6 week rule really is important, I have to go next week.

I'm glad for every help!!!!

Thanx

I read a big difference between *should* and *must*

YMMV

you SHOULD do this because you want to make sure all the medical papers are ready by the time of the interview. You have no control over that one. We cut it pretty close with my husband and I may have lost of few years of my life in worrying.

Mmmh, all cases I heard before from Frankfurt had their visa within 1 week after the interview.

As I said, there would be 5 weeks between my interview and the intended travel.

So getting the papers ready is the only reason for the 6 weeks. Thank you! I always wondered about it.
