NOA2 expired before we heard from consulate -- does it matters

Our consulate (Paris) is taking a long time getting back to us about the interview date (they claimed they never received the DS230 etc that we sent 2 months ago, so we had to resend it.) In the meantime, I noted that my NOA2 - the I797 which approved us -- is valid only from oct to feb 6. does this mean i need to apply to get this approval extended? or does it have nothing to do with the consulate process and i don't need to worry about it?

thanks!

Consulates routinely extend NOA2 approval times without further interaction from you. As long as you're actively pursuing the visa (sending back documents they ask for, etc), you'll be fine.

The Embassy/Consulate has the ability to extend the approval period (they very likely will almost as a matter of routine) - It would be in your best interest to contact them directly regarding this (since they may see the delay as not their fault). Usually it isn't a problem, but contact them to be 100% certain.

** Topic is interview-related and may be better suited in the "US Embassy/Consulate Discussion Forum"; moving thread there.

I have tried to call the Paris consulate many times with no luck about this same question. My petition expires on March 24th and I was panicking for a while until we got an interview date. As per my understanding, they will renew the approval automatically. At this point I don't really think it matters because you are actively pursuing the visa. You really should be ok.
