Thank you all so, so much for your warm congratulations from the both of us. (L) I don't think it's fully hit me yet. Peter and I have been in a long distance relationship for over 5 years, have been friends for even longer, and we've gotten so used to having to deal with this that it doesn't seem real that the distance is finally going to be over in a matter of days. Not to bash other VJ members, not that they're probably reading this, but I really don't quite understand how some people can just meet online one week, by some chance, and hang out with each other the next for a few days and realize they want to get married. How can you possibly know you want to spend your life with someone you've only known for a few weeks? It at LEAST takes a couple of months, doesn't it? It took me years to realize that Peter chomps his teeth in his sleep, and that when I have allergies and snore sometimes, he'll intentionally stir me to wake me up just for a few moments of silence and get back to sleep before I start snoring again. THAT'S something you gotta know before a life long commitment of marriage, I think. Just how much someone can annoy you but you still can't imagine a world without them anyway.

I finally took a nap for about 3 hours and am feeling refreshed, but now it's definitely going to be a lazy day today. Bust out the rocking chair and hand me the remote.. I'm going to be enjoying my last days of solidarity in style!

Edited by Lohninck

LMAO...My Ken snores soooo God damn loud its crazy, that made me smile thinking of that, I actually miss his snoring and long to be laid aside him listening to that again.

I was totally freaked out on the realisation of wanting to spend the rest of my life with one man. I have never wanted the whole white dress and carriage, fairytale wedding. Its just my not style.

.....my mummy once said that the only person that would put up with me is a drug user lol.....but lucky me eh? I have the most sexy guy alive in my eyes. He is my everything and a whole lot more that I didnt even know that I wanted...things are just so natural between us and I feel like ive known him forever, when really I feel that Ive just been searching for him forever and have now finally found him. Theres no way that I would risk losing ever.

Difference being also, for once in my life...I couldnt care less about what other people think or feel about our relationship, I was seen as a complete mad woman, travelling to the usa to meet a guy that I said I loved when we hadnt ever met before. But while he was in Iraq we would skype talk for hours, more than alot of couples that actually live with each other lol....and I love the fact that sex never got involved until we knew so much about each other. The heart wants what it wants, sometimes that makes no sense to our heads...but life doesnt make much sense to me lol.

I am pleased that you managed to get some rest....I dont think the reality will set in until prob after the wedding and things have calmed down....normal life will set in and reality will prob turn up then...lol. I cant wait to take the kids "home" that moment will be amazing :)

Awwwwwwwww.. that's all so very true. I never even wanted to get married, I guess I jynxed myself when I said I wouldn't marry until I was 50 and had nothing else to do with my life but here we are now. I never even wanted kids until I saw him playing with his nieces and my heart just exploded. I'm usually a pretty cynical person but when I'm around Peter none of that seems to matter.. that, and he's also fairly cynical at times himself, and yet we're still really happy at the same time if that makes any sense. Most happy when we're together, of course. When we're in NJ and I'm driving us somewhere, if we just miss a green light he'll be the one that gets angry for me and start screaming obscenities and making it hard for me to drive when I'm laughing so much. He has definitely made me feel better about my body and everything, too. I don't think I've ever felt sexy before he came along, haha. ;) Men can be such wonderful creatures sometimes, honest.

I've attached a picture of us from way back when.. it says 06 but I'm pretty sure it was an 07, because the pictures from us together in 2006 are so horrendous it's not even worth sharing, lmao. Seeeeeeeriously, we look so young and dorky but at least we can look dorky together.

Grrrr.

So I called last night and waited until someone got me through to an officer there at their generic 1-800 number and they were able to get a request sent in for me to try and figure out a status of the case.

Got a response here this morning already via e-mail. Says that the case is under review (duh) and there should be a decision/notice sent within 60 days....

So 60 damn more days possibly? ......

:(

Hey Paul and Vanessa! I'm in the same boat as you, maybe as worse as I've passed the five month mark. How did you get in touch with a real person on the hotline? Thanks!

Feb 2, 2011 - mailed application to Chicago Lockbox

Feb 4, 2011 - packet received

March 4, 2011 - Biometrics exam completed

March 7, 2011 - Received notice that application is being sent to California

Just have to go through the process and click the option to "Report a Problem with your case" when it comes up. That will get through to a person. Since you are past the 5 month mark, that should get them to send a notice to Vermont to get a status update. If the first person won't do it, just ask for their supervisor and they'll get you to an immigration officer to do it for you. Best of luck!!!!!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone!

Glad it's going smoothly for most!

I'm thinking we definitely need the donkey, midget, stripper pole, and inflatible pool at our little reunion. I will make Vika go last on the pole. I don't want to intimidate anyone else. I will be fishing cold beers out of the pool with my asscheeks. A redneck game. Tom sent me a text, "visa in hand for Tanya." Me next, me next, me next. Remember Lohninck, no dirty stuff until after the I do's. Yeah right.

That is BS that there are still some with no NOA2s. We have to all get back on the stripper pole.

Ladies, I am the sexiest man that y'all know. Who are we kidding here. Y'all can't go to sleep without downloading the pictures I sent to VSC. LOL.

Now that we are talking about this, i have two years and eight months with Marc, i never been so happy in my life, i dated so many guys and probably they didn't understand me, and i felt i needed to be free... the first time I visited him, i didn't think this thing was going to work, i remember i said : ok, good bye and have a great life, and he just said i am going to call you tonight, after i finish working, and he did... three months after that, receiving the new year i ask him to be my boyfriend and he answer oh, i though we already were... a year after that, for my christmas gift, i gave him just one, and he had five for me, i ask why he had so many gifts to give me, and he told me because every time i when to the store i saw something that was for you and bough it... so i just ask, what more reasons to marry my honey do i need? he is more than i imagine, if i ever did, because like you guys, i always though of me traveling, dating and partying, nothing serious, and growing old alone, with five cats, lots of dogs, and planting roses in a mountain...

Thanks for replying so quickly! I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us!

Hey Paul and Vanessa! I'm in the same boat as you, maybe as worse as I've passed the five month mark. How did you get in touch with a real person on the hotline? Thanks!

I keep looking out for you, Nancy! :( I keep hoping you'll get it soon, this is insaaaaaane. Good luck with everything, girl.

Before Journey:

Met online in 2002 as friends. Fell in love in 2005. Got engaged in 2010.

K-1 Journey, January 2010-July 2010:

NOA1: January 29. RFE: April 21. NOA2: June 4. Interview: July 15. Visa in hand: July 20. POE: July 22.

July 24, 2010: Married in front of 150 of our loved ones on a beautiful, sunny day. Living happily ever after and oh so thankful that 5 years of a long distance relationship and 7 months of a visa process is condensed into one line.

Wedding pictures! Because I'm shameless. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/ae47/AmeriDaneWedding/

Adjustment of Status Journey, January 2011-March 2011:

January 25: NOA1 for AOS and EAD. Feb 5: Bio appointment received. Feb 7: RFE. Feb 11: Sent RFE response. Feb 23: AOS transfered to CSC. Feb 25: Biometrics. March 11: EAD approved! March 19: Received EAD. March 21: AOS approved! March 25: GC in hand!

And we'll live happily ever after.. for the next 2 years, anyway.
