We got a "touch"!!!

All, we got a touch for both our I-130 and I-129F cases. It was touched on Jan 27th 2010 - exactly 3 months after both cases initially got "married" ie on Oct 27th 2009. They just updated the website today, as I checked this morning. So based on Jessarien's experience, I should expect a text message and email sometime this PM??? The thing is that it has been a week since it got touched - so does that mean that that's when they looked at it, and took a week to do the FBI and all other security checks??? How long do these checks take? If it took a week, should I be concerned about anything? If anyone knows anything about this process, please let me know. Basically the big question is that why did it take them a week to update the case, and even that to update the case with an update date of a week ago?

Obviously praying for my approval today sometime!

Are you counting the noa date as reference or the date they received it?

Good question - the way I see it doesnt matter what the receive and process dates are, although they received the 129F on 10-22 and "processed' its entry on 10-23. The 2 cases (130 w/ 10-13-09 rec date) were married on 10-27-09 ie the last updated date before the current last updated date of 1-27-10 last week. If you counted marriage date to update date, then it is exactly 3 months (92 days or so); if you count 10-22 date, then obviously 97-98 days. So good luck to you as well; I noticed someone from Nov 5th NOA1 date got their NOA2 today. I was surprised at the jump from 10-21 yesterday to 11-05 today!

Yeah, I'm surprised with the jump from yesterday!!! I can't wait to get a touch! lol

I think when they touch like they did today in your process it's because they got the responses from FBI and are attaching to your process. Then if everything is ok they send the approval notice. I'm not positive about it, but that's what I suppose it happens.

Good luck and keep us posted =)

Funny I did that very thing yesterday PM. Called up USCIS (1800 #) and they gave me the same 5 month schpiel as before. BUT the agent did suggest to set up an InfoPass appt with my local immigration office to get more info possibly on my case which I did. I have an appt for feb 18th. So obviously I will be canceling my appt once I receive approval. I dont think the USCIS people talk to the service centers at all. Everytime I call, they basically check the same website that we all check and give the same script from the case update website. This is why it is important i guess to have an account and a case portfolio, since if you check it without registering on the website, you only get what the general status is (no update dates); however, if you register and have the case portfolio, you get the exact date updates, which tells you when your cases were "married" and if they are being worked on.

Yes verily, good luck to all through this horrible and trying process! I just feel so much confident aleady!

I can only imagine that you would feel alot better after gettig a touch. I think it is the endless black whole with no signs of updates or touches that gets me all knotted up :( I wish they would come up with a better system, but I think that will only be in my fairy tale dreams.
