No fees at the interview for a CR-1 visa. Those charges are included in your fees at the NVC stage. Only K-1 and DCF visas have fees at the interview.

Good luck!

First, trying to resurrect an existing thread, instead of just starting one. But I'm working out my budget for the next 18 months and had some fairly specific questions.

This applies to CR-1 Visa.

Roughly how long before the Interview do you have to pay the NVC fees? (That's like $470 all together right?).

And the Medical Exam is $250-300?

So, if she were flying in to Montreal to do her medical exam and interview...

We'd need to budget flight, hotel (how long before the interview can she do the medical? day before? three days before?), the medical exam itself and then just food/incidental expenses in Montreal, right?

She can do it a month before if she likes, definately leave 3 days though, they do 2 day service I believe. You don't want her going to the interview without the medical results - you have no doubt read how long it takes to get the visa when they have to wait for additional info :)

Your other estimates look about right.

Ok let me see,

the nvc fees are when you first get to the nvc and roughly 2 months before interview maybe a bit less or more depending on where you are interviewing.

the NVC fees are 470 total.

The toronto medical is 275 for an adult but im not sure if the costs are different else where..

As for what I was trying to ask back then,

what are the shipping costs that you pay at the interview as I see that you bring a xpresspost envelope along with the paperwork?

also do you just buy any kind of expresspost envelope?

You don't pay any shipping costs at the interview - the Expresspost envelope that you get from the post office and take with you to the interview is pre-paid - ie: you pay the fee for shipping at the post office.

The envelope has to be 12" x 15".. I just went ahead and got the biggest one they had just to be sure though. You dont pay anything at your interview, my medical was $350, flights all depend on where u are coming from, and you will have to factor in hotel stays too. Pick one closest to the consulate :)

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.
