Anyone here think USCIS is struggling with the sending out an NOA concept? My file was accepted at CSC on January 14, and still no NOA. Just got the biometrics letter yesterday but that does't help you work or travel does it?

I think so...

You can get a I-551 stamp in your passport that would extend your GC for 1 year (similar to the NOA letter).

Do you know if I can still get the stamp if my passport is expired? Do I get it at the biometrics appointment?

You can't get the stamp if your passport is expired. I only know this based on cases which I overheard while we were waiting for a stamp in my husband's passport for the same reasons. We did it before the biometrics appointment, but I suppose it depends on what facility you are going to.

Oh well. Looks like I won't be starting any new jobs anytime soon. Or going to visit my family. One would think the stupid NOA would have been delivered.

We made an Infopass appointment. For immigration, it was one of the more pleasant experiences we'd had! We showed up, explained why we needed the stamp, and about 40 minutes later they handed back the stamped passport.

I belive it was kathrine 41 who posted a very interesting reply to the subject

it said something that you can get an info pass and they will give you a stamp on a I 94

wich you will have to carry in your passport , you can use the I 94 as prove of extantion for GC ,

maybe you can ask kathrine about it

or look up the post I cant remember the title but I belive the OP was OBAN

An Application Support Center where you get your biometrics done is NOT you USCIS local field office... the ASC has a very specific purpose and cannot help you on specific USCIS matters such as the I-551 stamp. In many localities, the ASC is not even in the same city let alone even in the same building as the field office

You could also call the (mis) information line and tell them you did not receive the NOA1. They may well issue another one.

I had the same issue and mis-information did nothing for me. Only after I went to an infopass did I finally get it. Make sure to get the case number for the service request they file it under so you can follow up if it doesn't show up.

It probably is touch and go with the (mis) information line. I've heard both success stories and stories like yours. But if the infopass appt would be way out of my way, I'd at least try the misinformation line first.

With my green card. Permanent residents aren't required to have a passport to go to Canada or to come back to the United States. As long as you have your green card (which shows citizenship) you're good to go.
