Is it possilble to request our case be forwarded from the Montreal consulate to the Manila consulate? The wait time there is only 1 week from medical to interview.

Hi,

Their email address is Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov - you can email and ask them.

Good luck

Heh...many Canadians would have LOVED to have had their cases transferred to the consulate in Manila. I know my plane ticket to Montreal cost about the same as a ticket to the Philippines...

When I was last in Manila, i saw a Pizza place that had on its sign :Canadian bacon, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

what is the reason for the transfer? i had my case transferred from singapore to manila but that was the advice of the US consul in singapore. my working visa was canceled prior to the interview and since my status was then reverted to tourist, i was not eligible for processing in singapore. it took about 3 weeks from the time that i requested for transfer until i got my notice from the US embassy in manila that i was scheduled for interview. you may want to check with the montreal consulate if you can transfer your case to manila. good luck.

We want to transfer because the Montreal guys seem to be sitting on their thumbs. Its taking an average of 4 to 5 months for them to process cases. It is roughly 1-3 weeks in Manila tops. She can just go home and get the interview/medical easy. She has working permit in Canada, and can leave and come back.

Oh, and Montreal stated that i simply have to have Manila do the transfer. Woot!

Those aren't the only two time ticks to worry about, ya?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I'm just thinking, why would anyone want to wait it out though? Even with the number of interviews they recently schedule, the shortest wait is still just over 3 months.

We have nothing to indicate they will keep up the pace of scheduling, all we do know is that they got so far behind they had to do a huge scheduling run.

Good luck at your interview in Manila!

Perhaps you dont understand. She is from Phil, and has this option. In and out in a weeks time. She can also go back to Canada as much as she wants. Getting her to the US is the problem.
