If you signed up for case updates on the USCIS website. Did you receive updates there before you received your hard copy in the mail? and Which service center had your case? Thank you.

The only update I received for my petition with a NOA1 date of 10-15-09 was an email saying that the petition was approved and that they had mailed me notice of that approval on 1-8-10. I had been checking the "my portfolio" section to see any "last updated" date changes had occurred and about 5 hours before I received the email about my NOA2, the date updated from 10-19-09 to 1-8-10. It gave me something to look at in the waiting time (but the touch "update" wasn't emailed, only the "approval notice" was).

I got a text message and an email from them simultaneously. The email said the petition was approved and the text said the case had been updated. Then I checked online, and it said basically the same thing as the email (same date/ language).

Thanks for your replies. I spoke to another member whose case is still in initial review and his wife has been in the country for months now. I'm just curious as to reliability of the case updates. Thanks again.

P.S. Congrats Chorosizzle; You managed to pass several months of cases ahead of you to get approval. You're very fortunate.

I got my text and email at the same time when I got my NOA2, at 5am.

Some members wont get updates. Some have never seen their case updated on that website. It isn't actually run by the USCIS. The updates are done by a third-party company(or so I'm told), and it may or may not get updated.

99% of cases WILL get updated, however.
