Just be confident & upbeat. Optimism is contagious. If it was my mom in this process

it would have been doomed because she always has a cloud over her head, but it's

normal for her age as she is 83. That's why it's best not to communicate much with

those who may even passively cast doubt upon your plans. In the end, my mom

loves my wife more than me, so all's well that ends well.

That is very good advice and definitely going to do that :).

It's been 36 days since my interview and no visa issued yet.. Our case status has been 'Pending Consular Officer's Final Review' since then.. The interview went great though, and I was told my visa should be issued right after the embassy receives the documents they asked from my fiance.. We're just too confused and don't know what's taking so long...

Thank you for posting this thread, Star!! Hopefully, you, us, and everyone who's still waiting will hear good news soon...

Btw, what's your current case status?

I think we are all in the same boat. It took us a month to get the documents they requested and it was submitted January 9th, 2010. Yeah, I am still waiting to hear something. I am glad that your interview went well, that is always a good sign :). His interview did not got so well, a total of 6 officers grilled him and finally since they could not find anything wrong with his answers they just asked for a religious divorce decree from me, and additional evidence. The pictures we submitted of our engagement ceremony was not enough, so we just submitted tons of additional pictures, additional emails, and more phone records. Also affidavits from both of our parents and friends.

I also sent a letter to the consulate via UPS global express clarifying some of the issues they had along with a letter to extend the petition. They did extend the petition until Dec 6, 2010 of next year. I had asked for extention just in case I did not want them to use our extention expiring as an excuse to deny us.

I had not been able to get through DOS to find out the case status, and I email the consulate weekly but have not heard anything back from them regarding our case the last I heard it was in administrative review. But, hopefully next week I will get some news as far as what is going on and I will let you know.

Hang in there, and I am sure all of us waiting will hear some good news soon.

So they have your religious divorce decree in hand, then. That's good news. :) I hope they make a speedy approval from that. It will happen, and we'll be cheering for you when it does. :)

Oh my gosh!! 6 consular officers interviewing him?? :o

We haven't been getting any answer from Cairo Consulate for about a week or DOS for a couple of days either... We're starting to get stressed out... We don't know how long we have to wait...

I hope all of us hear good news this month! :star:

Star i'm sure your approval is right around the corner. i'm almost there as well. Had my medical just waiting for my interview. Soon all this frustration and waiting will be over. Just keep thinking of the things you will do once you both are reunited. It helped me lots. hugs.

Thanks Kimbear! I am sure we both will hear good news soon. Oh, yeah by the way my fiance even got a reminder call to submit the documents. So, it seems like a very good sign. Hang in there as we both are almost there, and all the plans that we are making will come true and we will be reunited. Wishing you a VERY speedy journey, and it will be really worth it :).

DOS seems to have been backed up due to the crisis in Haiti. I had a very difficult time getting through, and when I did that is when they updated me what I already knew. Sometimes the consulate does not update their notes so quickly. I am sure the wait will not be very long and I am sure good news will be coming to all of us patiently waiting.

Twisted K - Hang in there. The wait will be over soon.

Sara- Any new updates from the embassy?

Aya&John - Any other updates from the consulate?

Kimbear- The medical is one less thing you have to worry about, and hoping you get a interview date soon. . Its a visa approval all the way, and just keep in mind the happy ending as it is truely worth it.

Amit & Melody - Hang in there your NOA2 will come soon.

Oh, another thing DOS's system was down when I called, and its a bit difficult to get through due to the Haiti situation. But, just keep trying eventually you will get through.
