Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I still feel a bit queasy at certain points of the day, and there are certain foods that absolutely make my stomach turn just by thinking about them (anything with BBQ sauce is a biggie!!!). I am always feeling sleepy and I can sleep for 10hrs a night get up for a couple of hours and be ready for a nap!

My first trimester was like that--nauseated, tired and sleepy. I'm not sure how much of it is due to pregnancy or low-iron level. But since my iron level has been corrected and I'm in my second trimester, I feel great! Sexy too cuz I'm wearing some really fashionable maternity clothes that my sister gave me.

Update on BabyA-

He's crawling and crawling...

And pretty soon he'll be walking (he's pulling himself up....)

My milk supply is getting lower and lower.... :help: Any ideas as to what to do to increase breastmilk milk supply?

We just got his 9 month photos done...How exciting...:)

He's finally in his own room, and can sleep through the night...

Lol..Maybe I'll get some sleep too....

So, how are your babies and/or pregnancies doing? Good luck and best wishes to all!

Happy Belated Mothers Day to you all too!

Ant

Ant, are you using a breast pump? I want to breastfeed too and am undecided whether to spend $280 on them.

I guess the question is - how much is he nursing now? Supply and demand basically. The less he nurses (or you pump) the less you'll produce. I believe stepping up the pumping (even though you may not get much milk initially) will increase production again.

When my daughter would hit a growth spurt in the early months...she'd nurse like crazy, not always getting a lot, but it stimulated things to start producing more.

if you allow him to self wean, he just may be reaching a natural time when he's more active and doesn't need to nurse all the time. He may be using nursing for comfort before bed and naps or when he's sick. Every kid is different..hope it helps

Even though it has been years and years since I had my son, I decided today to read this thread. And I am glad I did, it brought back some very pleasant memories of when my son was a baby. Can I substitute my granddaughters?

When my husband (he's the Canadian 1/2 of the couple) first proposed, I was going to move to Canada after we got married. He flew down for Christmas in December, 2008 (we were planning on getting married January 2, 2009). One of our Christmas presents from my son and his wife was a 'onesie' that said "I love Grandma and Grandpa". Of course, I cried. My husband decided that he needed to move down here because (as he put it) I would be willing to live up there, but I would never be truly happy away from the baby. In February (Superbowl Sunday), my daughter in law passed a bloodclot, and was spotting. My son rushed her to the emergency room, and they did tests and an ultrasound to make sure she and the baby were okay. My son calls me and says "She's okay, still pregnant, but they found something . . ." My heart dropped, and I said "What?" He said "There's two of them, we are having twins". Of course I cried again (and made her cross the "I" on the onesie and put "We"). To make a long story shorter (sorry about rambling), my twin granddaughters are 9 months old now. And one looked like her mommy when she was born, and one looked like her daddy. My son wants to try again - he wants a boy too - but since my daughter in law found out that if you have multiple births naturally the first time, you have an 85% chance of having mulitples again, not sure if she will agree. I told my son that if they did decide to have another one, that I could love three or four granddaughters as much as I love these two, but he had no guarentee that he would get a boy.

Anyway, thanks for letting me lurk in this thread.

Aw, Married2009, that almost made me cry! Great story! cray5ol.gif

(Please no twins. Please no twins. My sister had twins - fraternals aren't genetic, are they? And please, no twins. She didn't get to sleep for about 5 years, I don't think).

My sister's twins hated each other from birth. As soon as Aaron could move, he would wriggle his way on top of Jaleesa's head when they were put down in their crib to sleep. They get along only slightly better now, 20-some years later!

Um, Val, yes, the twin thing can be genetic, on the mother's side of the family. And the girls seem to like each other - I watched the older one make the younger laugh. She would slap her hands on the mat in front of her, and her sister would start laughing. Then she would wait til the laughing stopped, and do it again. Was funny to watch them watch each other.

Rev - maybe your next one will be twins! But if you were hyperventilating over the cost of one carseat . . . The girls just outgrew the carriers they were in, and new car seats were bought @ about $200 each (daughter in law found 20% off coupon, and Babies R us gives 10% discount for mulitple births) so she got them for about $360 after taxes and all.

There is a store in Canada we go to when I go visit the husband (in Calgary) called 'Please Mum'. They usually have decent sales, and really cute clothes. They have a website, too. We bought the girls plastic bibs (that create a waterproof pocket to catch food, liquid, etc) from Goo-Goo Babies (they have a website too). They were expensive, but will last til the girls don't need bibs anymore (and are better quality than the ones I could find here in the States.)

Prior to pregnancy my iron level was actually quite high...actually higher than the normal range, which is odd for a woman. So I am pretty certain that I am not anemic, and it is just pregnancy tired.

Have you asked if they rent pumps at the hospital you are delivering at? All of my friends that breastfed did that in Canada and apparently the hospital pumps are much faster then most of the personal ones that you purchase. And with a new baby...any time that you can save will be much needed!!

Oh #######, I thought identical were hereditary and fraternal were not. I'm gonna go rethink this. blush.gif

Oh gawd - I remember the hospital pump...that thing sucked like a Hoover...I felt like I was hooked up to a cow milking machine  But don't let that scare you away....at least it's faster

Yep! :D

My brothers girlfriend is a twin. They've been dating for 5 years now, and I'm pretty sure they'll eventually get married and have kids, once he finally admits to himself that he's ready to settle down. Anyways, she's a twin, her mom is a twin, she has an aunt that had triplets, and her grandmother was a twin. Crazy stuff or what? We always bother my brother by saying, "so when are the twins coming?" It makes him so mad, it's hilarious.

Having multiples would be crazy! I can't even imagine...

Hi Everyone,

As for twins....

My husband is a twin...No joke...He has a very similar-looking twin brother, so appearance wise they look very alike....

It's quite amusing actually, to go through their childhood photos...and having to second-guess as to which twin was which..

(though I'm not sure if they are identical or not...the debate is still out on that one...my guess is that they are fraternal..they don't want to be tested though...so we'll never know for sure...oh well...)

Grant it, they are different though....personality-wise, and everything else, despite being twins.....

Lol..And yes, I married the right twin...;)

My second pregnancy was actually a twin pregnancy....

Fraternal twins...as based on the ultrasound...

And no, I don't have a history of twins in my family....

It was more so because of the meds I was taking..

By the way....If you are taking certain types of meds..that increases the chances of multiples too..

Sad to say, I MCed my twins....They were only 9 weeks old...

Nevertheless, maybe it was for the best....one is a handful to deal with now...I can't imagine how it would be dealing with two...lol.....got to hand it to my MIL for having to deal with that.....

Ok..twins aside....I'll talk more about the breastfeeding/breastpump issue next time...(my son is screaming right now to be fed..have to attend to that first...)

Thanks everyone, for your helpful advice to far...:)

Hey again! I have a question, hopefully someone's able to answer.

I'm going to be going back home from August 1st to 31st. I should be around 4 months and some weeks pregnant. I'm flying with American Airlines since it's the only one that does a one stop...I miss Westjet. Anyway, will I need some kind of note from a doctor stating that I'm allowed to fly? I don't want to miss this trip for anything..and I shouldnt be showing by then...so yeah.

Advice please <3 Thank you so much everyone!
