Oh, veeNDee, sorry to hear you are so miserable today. Have you tried zantac to qual the acid reflux? My doctor recommended it and it actually seemed to stop the post nasal drip I was having too so it might help a little with your runny nose (although if the nose issue is driectly related to the cold, probably not). Do you have enough pillows that you could create yourself a "nest" to sleep in? The U shaped pregnancy pillow I have has helped tremendously with sleeping on my back or sides since it picks me up a bit from the bed and seems to provide a little pressure to reign my pregnant body in from taking over the bed. It also elevates my head enough to keep the refluxing from causing me issues. Hope your day gets better.

Thanks Lilac. I did get Zantac but was told I have to be careful timing it with some of my supplements so haven't dared take it yet. Dragged myself through classes yesterday but walked out like every 30 minutes to have a coughing fit and sneezing fit. Was in a haze the whole time but thankfully my husband took copious notes. I just woke up at 3am coughing so hard I had trouble breathing and now my fever is 100.8. Ugh. Still want to go tomorrow afternoon for the last part of birth class coz that's the tour of the hospital. I really wish I could have rescheduled. Stupid lack of refund and no other openings :( I phoned the nurse line and they said at this point the fever doesn't hurt the baby but they are worried about a possible infection so to be seen by a doctor soon. Here's hoping it goes away.

Hope you start feeling better sooner rather than later. A fever is nothing to fool around with when pregnant. Hope your tour of the hospital goes well. DH and I are going on our tour on Tuesday night.

Neck seems to be better today. I am not going to worry about it.

kimbear, I hope more than 2 people show up. At least you have a couple that you adore - always helps - my sisters and brothers, all 6 of them, love my DH. My SIL however could care less if I lived or died or had children. Family dynamics are so odd sometimes.

Ontarkie, you are right, my in laws aren't being selfish, they are being prudent. It just hurts to feel that we always have to go to them and that there is no give and take, but then they can't really give and take. I just have to shake my head and get over it, I guess.

VeeNDee, I hope your baby grows with the help of the extra nutrients.

Yesterday I was looking at the rules for taking the babies to Canada. It appears I can do so with just their birth certificates until they are 16 if we go by land, but that would mean we couldn't use our Nexus cards that DH and I have. Getting into Canada is less of an issue than getting back into the U.S. at our favorite point of entry - Sarnia/Port Huron/Blue Water Bridge - yeah, I can't imagine waiting at the border 1 or 2 hours with babies. One passport for a minor is $105 and it only lasts for 5 years! The Nexus card costs $50 a person and is also good for 5 years. Plus we need to get DH's Canadian passport renewed since it expires June 2014. Need to look into the fees for the Canadian passport. U.S. adult passports are good for 10 years so I am still good for awhile. Time to make the passport/Nexus Card savings account.

Keep in mind that NEXUS is free for minors so you could get the baby one.

so at my appointment today the doctor thinks my belly is measuring small (which I thought was funny because I think my belly has gotten a lot bigger in the last 2 weeks :P)

So she says she wants to send me to the Perinatal clinic for a growth scan. Then she does the US to check my fluid levels and says "oh, your belly measurement is probably off because the baby's head is way down there. But she said she still wants to send me for the growth scan to double check..

Hey Marilyn let me know how that goes.... that's where we're at right now. Baby's abdomen at the specialist area shows 9th percentile growth and there is a type of growth issue for us. We're monitoring it closely (I have a non stress test and bio physical ultrasound today and a full ultrasound on Tuesday next week along with another non stress test). I hope that for you it turns out to be just a weird measurement (Happened to my sister in law- her belly measured small but then she grew a lot the next week so it was just one of those things). I hope our babies develop okay... it's so stressful. I'm taking a ton of supplements and prescriptions to help with growth but may have to deliver early. No idea when... I am so thankful whenever I feel the baby kicking me smile.png

I just find it strange because the baby has been doing great all this time and I know my belly has gotten bigger in the last few weeks. I think it is just because the baby's head is deep down there. I do feel a lot of pressure down there if I do too much walking around..

Well, still have a fever and cough, although the sniffles have mostly slowed down. My biophysical profile ultrasound today went really well - 10/10 the doctor said, and non-stress test even better. Baby was kicking up a storm and you could see my stomach moving half the time. Also, BABY IS NO LONGER BREECH YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Hopefully they stay head down. They're facing the wrong way, so no pics available for ultrasound but I have hope they'll still turn around the 'right way' since they came out of breech this week :)

On Thursday is the next non-stress test, and then Tuesday is my big growth ultrasound where they tell me if the baby's abdomen is growing since we changed things up.

Wow sounds like you guys have alot of things going on that would honestly freak me out. I hope everything goes well for you girls.

Vee i'm so glad your baby is no longer in breech, Phew! Hopefully no c-section in the future for ya now!

Hope your cold gets better too. As for taking Zantac, make sure its 4 hours apart from meals. Its what i have to do with my thyroid meds and zantac and my prenatals. Luckily the Zantac is good for 12 hours, and for me it works great.

Hmm they measured my belly and didn't say a word to me, it was 31 cm. I have no idea if that was good or bad. Weighed myself again today, in the last month i've gained only 1lb. I blame all the GD tests and stress.

I can't sleep for anything these days. I have the most weird dreams which i was told is normal lol. And my carpal tunnel has been SOOOO much worse. Now i wake up with my entire arm from shoulder to fingertips with pins and needles. I have tried lying on my left side right side back, it does not matter, i end up waking up with pins and needles almost everywhere. My hips are killing me in the morning and i'm getting up like every 2 hours again to pee. I'm soo tired lately cuz of this :( And i'm using like 3-4 pillows and i dunno what else to do. Our bed is only 6 months old, we bought a Serta perfect sleeper, and it was great til i got preggo! lol. :)

Today i had my GD class, went over carb counting etc, and had my meal plan given to me, along with a glucose meter. I have to do this 4 times a day til 6 weeks after the baby is born. I just did my first test after supper and i already failed. even though i ate the amount of carbs they told me too. I'm supposed to stay under 120 after 2 hours of eating, and i was at 143 :( I see insulin in my future sigh. Now i need to see if the insurance can get me this stuff for cheaper, since 100 test strips is 145$ at the pharmacy. I think i nearly had a heart attack when i saw the prices of the supplies i need. strips needles and some other item, so 200$ a month. Good grief.

Marilyn, you and I both! The baby dropped about a week ago and I am developing that seductive pregnancy waddle. sleepy.gifWhile I am glad that breech birth isn't a likelihood by this point, carrying transverse (sideways) was so much more comfortable. Now I'm on the Zantac parade with the rest of you, and highly recommend taking the cool mint ones before bed to avoid uncomfortable acid reflux. My second great discovery pertaining to sleep is the value of a memory foam mattress. Friends we stayed with over the weekend had a 4" memory foam topper, and I could prop myself on the pillows without slipping. Absolutely magical, so I'm off to Costco to price out their queen size against overstock.com.

Kimbear - I got the GD diagnosis too. Definitely let me know whether you want any support, meal plans, or ideas. You're going to see a few crazy numbers out there. The real trick is matching proteins to your carbs throughout the day. I've become an advocate of string cheese (the mozzarella, low-fat/low-moisture ones from Costco in particular). Put them with just about every meal and you're set. If your fasting numbers are not great first thing in the morning, try modifying your before bed snacks. I've had a lot of success with full fat ice cream (1/2 c, or thereabout) and a string cheese stick! Go figure. Golden Oreos are also popular with Babycenter.com GD mamas. :)

Ohh a memory foam topper? Does it make the bed all squishy and weird? lol I had a beauty rest at first that was extra padded and it was just tooo soft for my back pre pregnancy. Not a fan of feeling like i'm stuck in a cloud and cant get up i have enough trouble getting up as is! rofl.

Ya so far my morning numbers are a bit high but only 10 points. currently the only high number i had was after my late lunch meal but that was due to my 2 hour GD class right at lunch and no snacks i think. I have a week to do this and figure out if certain foods are the culprit or what. AT least i know i can eat what i want more or less just as long as i keep carb numbers the right amount. I was worried at first that i'd be stuck eating tasteless horrible food! :)

we bought a Serta-Rest gel memory foam topper. I love it. I don't find it too squishy. I also love my body pillow. I put it between my legs and rest my belly on it.

I am not too concerned about the baby being too small... I have a feeling she just measured wrong.

So my stitch is coming out within the next 2 1/2 weeks. I am a little scared about that because they first try and take it out in the doctor's office with no pain meds. If that doesn't work they do it in the hospital.

After my stitch is out I could go into labour anytime. My last shot of progesterone is next Monday too..

We still have some stuff to do. Like make sure the car seat fits in our van, online child birthing class, pack my hospital bag and wash her clothes etc

It is so weird because it feels like it was only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant and now I am here near the end. I can't wait to see our little girl. :D

Sorry, this is going to be sappy... :P I remember about a year ago I had this very vivid dream of me and my husband and he was holding our baby. I don't even know if it was a girl or a boy. It just felt so warm and cozy in the dream. I was upset when I woke up because I wanted to stay in that dream forever. And now that dream is about to come true.

So finally went to the doctor and he said I have bronchitis. He's not sure if it's viral or bacterial and gave me a prescription to use if it doesn't get better by today. Sigh... the fever comes and goes but the coughing refuses to leave. My side is incredibly sore. I can't lie on it, and I can barely stand up/sit down at this point. Last night my husband had to help me in and out of the chair. I took a Tylenol today but this is getting so frustrating. Can't sleep to save my life. Just unending stabbing pain...

On a bright note, my MIL has offered to come during the day today to help me pack which is good, because at this point I feel completely useless and things have to get done. :(

Marilyn, I hope your growth scan comes out good. Thing is even with those growth scans they are just estimates. Keep eating healthy and drinking lots of water. I hope the stitch removal goes well for you. Hard to believe that you are so close! It is exciting to see your dreams come true isn't it!

VeeNDee, glad your little one decided head down was the way to go. That is reassuring I am sure. Glad that the little one passed all non-stress tests and biophysical profile tests.

Kimbear, sorry to hear about your sleeping issues. Even with my U shaped pregnancy pillow, I wake up with my arm asleep from laying on my side. Annoying but I haven't figured out how to get rid of it either. Hopefully you can get your GD under control through eating without getting far out there numbers. $145 for 100 test strips, yikes. Is there a mail order place you could get those supplies?

hikergirl, thanks for the heads up on the minor Nexus card fees. Now I just have to worry about passports so I can get the Nexus cards for my babies.

AFM, DH and I went and toured the birth place where I am planning to give birth last night. The triage part reminded me of an emergency room. I told DH that supported my wishes of staying home until I was in active labor because otherwise the tour guide said we could spend 2 to 4 hours in this little room with no windows. All the labor and delivery rooms have outdoor windows which is much better in my opinion. The tour guide told me and 2 other moms pregnant with twins that it wasn't the practice to have all twin births in the operating room. But I am definitely going to talk to my doctor about that too. There were nice deep bath tubs and showers in each room so I can stand in the water if I want to labor there which was good. She even said they recommend that a laboring woman sit on a toilet and rock to help get the baby in the right position to exit the body vaginally. The hospital supports skin to skin contact with the baby after birth which was good to know, but if I am still actively laboring for the second baby that may be interesting. Nurse said that colostrum tastes like amniotic fluid which I had never heard before. Makes sense though so it is familiar to the baby.

The mother/baby unit was nice with enough space in their large rooms for both babies to stay with us and they are never taken away from the parents unless the little boys are going to be circumcised. I am not sure how my DH feels about circumcision. I guess I need to have a conversation about that. There is a "watching" nursery if parents ask to have some time to sleep without watching the baby. DH even gets a couch to sleep on. Doesn't look that comfy but at least it is something.

we were looking it up and one of the reasons the fundal measurement can be off is because of how the baby is positioned...

grr, was just checking my insurance site and it looks like I am going to be charged for the ultrasounds they are doing along with the NST. $45 :o I get the NST done twice a week now until the end..
