NVC questions after 129F and 130 approvals

Hello Friends,

After 129F and 130 approval, I see a lot of posts of calling NVC and giving out the email address. Is this something that we have to do?

Also at what point do we have to pay the Immigration bill fees? The reason I am asking is because we are still not clear if we want to take K3 route or the IR1/CR1 route as for the Chennai consulate I have heard that for K3 we directly get the letter with the interview dates whereas for IR1/CR1 it is a 3month process to get the interview dates. So basically it could possibly save us 2 months by going the K3 route of this counsulate and one of my fellow VJ friends is doing the K3 for the very same reason since it would help us in uniting the spouses 2 months earlier. So once the NVC receives the approval from USCIS, at what time frame we should pay the immigration bill fees so as not to slowdown the process.

Also can we go with IR1 route later on and then if they schedule us K3 interview first then can we just skip the IR1/CR1 process. For me personally a few hundred dollars is affordable if it means I will be uniting with my spouse a few weeks earlier but i appreciate all comments. I do understand the pain of doing the Adjustment of STatus later on if we do go the K3 route but the separation is painful. Honestly it does look like we are saving only a month or two at max but for me that is a lot because I have an infant daughter and I am missing out on a lot of stuff of raising the baby because of our separation.

Yes, you have to call NVC to give them your e-mail addresses... Check out Ling's shortcuts and James shortcuts for NVC to get familiar with the process

I posted this in another post.... might be of use in keeping things straight!

For anyone confused about NVC, the formula is this

Petitioner = Get NVC # + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send 854 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page

Benificerary = Get NVC# + receive 3032 + send 3032+ 3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay and wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail 230 package with all original/certified documents

======= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled
