N400 docs & timeline

Hi all,

So we are about to submit my wife’s N400 based on marriage to US citizen for 3 years.

Below is the list of docs we are submitting – I think this is sufficient but any input or recommendations would be appreciated.

My question is really about the timeline – example how many utility bills, bank statements, life insurance policy bills…etc should we provide? The most recent, 3 month, 1 year…3 years??

Docs we will be submitting:

- Green card copy

- Marriage cert

- My citizenship cert

- Our son's birth cert

- My passport copy

- Wife’s passport copy

- Passport photos

- Tax transcripts for last 3 years

- Home Mortgage info

- Life insurance docs (each of us is beneficiary to the other)

- Investment joint accounts docs

- Auto, home and umbrella insurance policies with both our names on them

- Car title with both our names on it

- Copies of driver’s license (although my wife’s still shows our old address)

- Electric utility bill with both names on it

- Anything else?

Thanks in advance!

Has your wife been a LPR (Legal Permanent Resident) for 3 years? The requirement is 3 Years as LPR and Married to USC.

Yes she has...she actually qualified for filing on Nov/09 but we have been dragging our feet on putting the N400 package together (not excusable really)!

Good that your getting your ducks in a row, but you don't need all that unless they ask for RFE

Just only give them of what is needed for the application and have the rest in a folder if ask..

Good Luck

Can only go by experience with wife's IO, outside of tax returns and joint ownership, she was only interested in the latest stuff of that time dependent stuff. April-July went by for us from application to interview, wife's IO wanted to see all the latest stuff in that regard, we did bring it. Surprised they didn't want to see the latest in that month between her interview and oath ceremony, being paranoid induced by the USCIS, I tossed that stuff in the car just in case. But left it in the car, they didn't want to see it. But it was there if I needed it.
