Well wouldn't that be interesting...

My MIL is so hot and cold with me, it's pretty confusing. One day she wants to be all buddy, buddy and then the next day she doesn't even want to talk to me. It's very strange. Come to think of it my SIL is the same way, so maybe its a strange genetic thing...

The pregnancy is going very well!

I had the ultrasound last Monday. The technician at the BC Women's Hospital was GREAT! Friendly, chatty, and full of information (unlike the last technician from Grieg's & Assoc). He said the baby's head is measuring normal size, has a "...dallasocostophallic-shaped head" (hope I got that right, lol) which is "one of the allowed head shapes (there is three)". It basically means oval (long). Since most oriental babies have round heads, he asked me if my hubby was Caucasion or Oriental. I answered "He's African-American" and then he responded, "No--that's a politically-correct term. He's Black. There's only three races--Caucasion, Oriental or Black."

If time wasn't a factor and I wasn't so excited about seeing my baby on screen wiggling around, I would have debated with him that there's no such thing is race and that race is a social construct but I said, "OK, he's Black. Let's carry on." LOL.

He was trying to see the baby's heart chambers but the baby's curled up hiding it. Then he shook my belly with the wand and yelled "Earthquake! Earthquake! Aaaaah!" On the screen, the baby looked startled, uncurled and started kicking (Ow! I felt it!). Voila!--heart can be seen and technician was happy.

All in all, baby's developing normally and healthy. BTW, it's a GIRL! :-) I'm elated.

My FIL and I are okay. My BIL and I are pretty close. We have a lot of discussions about a lot of things, I'd be upset if anyone went out of their way to hurt him. It wasn't always that way, we kind of hated eachother for a while. But we have both come around. He's grown up a lot. He went from being lazy to graduating from college, and he's now going on to university. I'm proud of him.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I may not be drop dead gorgeous or a hot tamale... but I am comfortable in my own skin. They are not, and it shows through their comments and how much they focus on things like weight and looks. That's their misery though. I gained 40 pounds since I have lived here... so what. I'm happy.

Don't kid yourself, you are quite good looking.

I saw some pictures on facebook once upon a time. ;)

She is a super healthy, exercising, organic eating person and I'm fat, and she does not like fat people.

Say what? Fibber.

Thats what I want to be like. I aspire to be that MIL.

I've always wanted to be like my grandfather.

I think I want to be a grandpa more than I want to be a father... at least at this point in my life! ;)

I just don't want to be a nutjob.

I don't want my future DIL to hate me, especially if she's going to have my grandchildren.

Well... good/bad news.

You're a nutjob.

You're nice enough, and caring enough that I'm sure your future DIL will be happy that she won the MIL lotto.

Life's too short for all this family drama, hatred, and #######.
