Nah - some of us ski-jump instead. (Along with ice-skating and hockey). Still, this is a tragedy and I hope the predictions for this luge track don't come true.

well yeah, ski and cross country ski. that's how ya'll commute to work during the winter isn't it? :P

Damn some people are ignorant!! We use Sled dogs ty very much!!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Geeze, I just had to read like 5 pages.

You guys are Off Topic maniacs.

 I've noticed that too. Can you imagine everyone around a table!!?? Oh that would be fun!!!

I had to read lots too, so I'll try to remember what I read..

Mrs. Cat...welcome back to Edmonton!!!

Cool about Rogers, Lgg!! They are nice. I can't remember totally what happened a few years ago, but the man I talked to was super nice, and I didn't have to pay for the phone I no longer had, and reminded him we got a bonus for having it charged to the CC, and we saved $$$$.

:( about a death already. Geeeeezzzzz

Oh Oh....brain has stopped working..can't remember if anything else was going on since I last read.... Sorry if I missed any news...

However...guess what????

It's snowing in South Carolina!!! We probably won't get quite as much as DC and all.... but it sure feels like home! Supposed to snow all night, and flurries in the morning, but more than likely it will disappear soon. :( It's so pretty....

I've never seen Skeleton before. I had to look up what it was. Looks pretty freaky.

I believe it made it's comeback at the Salt Lake Olympics.

It wasn't in the Olympics for a long time.

You know what I like that I don't think is in the Olympics?

I don't know if anyone's ever seen it, but basically you make the streets covered in a sheet of ice and there's lots of hills n stuff and people skate down them to see who gets to the finish line first.

I've seen a few competitions on tv, and it looks epic.

I think that'd be a good sport if it isn't in the Olympics already.

I've seen that too. I think they have done it in Quebec City. Now that looks dangerous!

You know what makes me really sad . . . when I read here in VJ about one of our members passing. We go through so much wait and so much paperwork to be with the ones we love and then something happens and one of the couple dies. It is even sadder when the couple is still apart waiting for the paperwork. That dream of a happy life together is stolen away forever. The distance now is one that can't be shortened through time or paperwork. This is when the monstrosity of this process that we all go through seems especially villainous. :(

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yeah...

It must be terribly heart breaking, especially after going through all that.

So earlier today, completely on a lark, I decided to check prices on WestJet.com for the EXACT same return flights I'm taking from Vancouver to Montreal and back. Know how much they are now, with three weeks before departure? $997!!

I paid $515 three weeks ago. How in the world can the exact same ticket be almost twice as much today as it was three weeks ago? Pretty crazy!

they raise the price closer to the departure due to less seating. sounds like you bought at a very good time.

for trips to and from brazil, i try to buy at least a month out for this very reason. buying within a few weeks means at least $500 more a seat.
