Does this mean they automatically extended?

Hi guys,

So, the documents have been mailed out and now we wait wait for the response from the consulate. So, due to my anxiety about this process I had emailed the consulate letting them know we are mailing the pending documents stated on the 221g, and to extend the petition if they need time to make the decision. Before this I had mailed the consulate a letter directly asking them to request my petition, and I don't know if that had any relevance to their responce. So, I emailed the Mumbai consulate and they responding via email telling me that I have until one year until Dec 6, 2010 to submit the documents. They actually even gave me a date . This is the best email I have ever gotten from them. I am sure we will not need this time. But, does this mean that there is some hope for our visa now . I thought they would not extend our petition and we were doomed. This email gave me some hope after all. Yay!!!

at least u got a date star lol i been asking and asking and the only answer they will give me is ur fiances application is in AP and we will contact him when it is finished we sent him a letter to this effect on Dec 1 omg i was asking directly is it in mandatory ap or is it in embassy review and are u going to extend the date as requested before lol

I just send you a PM as well (lol). I put my fiance's DOB and my DOB on the email and they have been more responsive when I do that versus me just putting the case number. See, if you try that if you get something more concrete versus the same jargon they gave you. I think they are just doing that usual thing they did with the AP for background checks, and I am sure once its done you will be good to go. Sara things are going to be good and we will have good news. I am sure 2010 willl bring us good news. I finally got my hope back, and I want you to have lots of it too.

Call the DOS, they will be able to tell you if your AP is the Washington name checks or if it is embassy review.

When the embassy had received our K3 (2007), and did not assign our interview for another eleven months...I was very nervous about the extension. I emailed the embassy and they told me that the CO had the authority to extend the approval and that they would do that.

I hope you hear some news soon!

Thank God. Finally some relief for you. Good. I'm thinking they should approve the visa as soon as they review your documents. Everything will work out.

Glad to hear this news, Star. We are waiting for the Mumbai Embassy to decide on the case too...maybe your case, and mine, will be next to each other on the CO's desk! You never know. LOL

I am sorry! Hopefully it is only document verification.

It is sad, but when I called them...I was hoping that they would say that it was in DC name checks because then I would know exactly what it was. I hate it that it is at the embassy level because, just like you, I have no clue what they are doing with our case.

I hope this ends soon for you and they give your SO the visa.

It is sad, but when I called them...I was hoping that they would say that it was in DC name checks because then I would know exactly what it was. I hate it that it is at the embassy level because, just like you, I have no clue what they are doing with our case.

when I called the embassy before about my husbands K3 status back around thanksgiving, they told me they had just received our papers BACK from Dept of State. So now it is at embassy. Do they send it to DOS first, then back to Embassy or what? then they told me that it should be clear by Eid, but that didnt happen. Then they told me that it was transferred from nonimmigrant unit to immigrant unit. They are all over the place. The last time I talked to Islamabad's embassy I asked what was up with the updates or transfers or whatever and the lady was like "I dunno why any of my colleagues would take the time to explain these processes to you, because al I have on my computer screen is a message saying you are pending administrative processing". yeah, very helpful. Since then, they never tell us anything.

Sara the worst has passed and now its just formality of the background checking. It will take some time, but the end result will be good. Hang in there, ans I am still here too .
