Police Certificate Question

Hi all,

I want to start by saying how great this site it, it really has helped, and I cringe thinking about how this process was handled without Internet.

Well, I got married about a year and a half ago. My husband is a resident of Jordan, and I am a US citizen. I am currently putting together package IV, and got stuck on the Police Certificate part. My husband went to school in Iraq in 1999, and attended medical school there until 2003 before the war, left and finished his education in Jordan. Before and after that four year period he lived in Jordan. I am not sure, but guess that getting a police record for him is next to impossible. I was wondering if anyone, knows anything about whether or not the police record is unavailable, and what to do if it is.

Police Certificates are available in Iraq; They are to be requested for in Baghdad and it can take 15 days to get it. Good luck

When I look it up on the NVC reciprocity page it says they are unavailable. Maybe its updated after the war? If they are unavailable, do I just not send it?

Hello,

I thought there was no police cetificate for Iraq also because on the website it says "not available", but at the interview stage, they ask for it. I was told it is available in Baghdad

If your going through the Embassy in Jordan, they probably wont ask for it. But to be safe, just email them and tell them your situation and see what they tell you
