Did you call NVC and confirm your petition was shipped? They are allowed to tell you when it was shipped. And the phones are open till 12 midnight tonight.....might be a good weekend gift if you know your petition was sent on the 19th and that means you're that much closer... :thumbs:

Got the RFE in today! And yes, we missed A SIMPLE YES OR NO QUESTION. Whether or not I've been convicted of a crime/military cirme/etc. I don't know why I must have missed something so stupid, or that I didn't catch it when I looked over the packet a thousand times, but I'm SO GLAD it was just something dumb on my half. :) :) :) I'm sending the response today while it's still early via UPS so it will be in Vermont by MONDAY. I feel so relieved. My fiance is ecstatic, too. I'm feeling a little bashful but oh well. Is that an approval I smell on the way?

K-1 Journey, January 2010-July 2010:

NOA1: January 29. RFE: April 21. NOA2: June 4. Interview: July 15. Visa in hand: July 20. POE: July 22.

July 24, 2010: Married in front of 150 of our loved ones on a beautiful, sunny day. Living happily ever after and oh so thankful that 5 years of a long distance relationship and 7 months of a visa process is condensed into one line.

January 25: NOA1 for AOS and EAD. Feb 5: Bio appointment received. Feb 7: RFE. Feb 11: Sent RFE response. Feb 23: AOS transfered to CSC. Feb 25: Biometrics. March 11: EAD approved! March 19: Received EAD. March 21: AOS approved! March 25: GC in hand!

And we'll live happily ever after.. for the next 2 years, anyway.

I do have a question too...after the K1 visa is issued (hopefully) and I move to the USA, how do I go after seeking employment? What other paperwork do I have to file for, how much it costs, how long does it take? My future husband and I, we dont want to struggle, we'll have an apartment to furnish, a car to buy, and we'll really need two sets of paychecks...

After you are married, then you apply for Adjustment of Status (AOS), also know as a green card. Included in the AOS document (Form I-485) is the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and Advance Parole (AP). The EAD allows you to work and the AP allows you to leave and enter into the country. You should receive these documents in about 2 months and the green card takes about 3 months. The cost is $1010. You will also need biometrics and other supporting evidence...I think the cost of the biometrics is included in the $1010 fee.

05-08-2009 - I proposed

12-01-2009 - 129F sent

12-04-2009 - NOA-1

12-12-2009 - NOA-1 hardcopy received

03-15-2010 - NOA-2 101 days
