My wife had a biometrics appointment in Charlotte after we were married, for her adjustment of status i guess. When it came time for the green card conditions to be lifted we saw on this website that we need to have another biometrics done. We sent the forms and payment and sure enough they sent us an appointment for a 2nd bio test in Charlotte again. There was no mention of a problem with the first bio, and it's like they only requested the 2nd bio because we paid for it. Is this normal?

it is normal and not a problem with the first bio... it is essentially to get an updated photo and to match the fingerprints to the filel to make sure the applicant is who they say they are... and I suppose an additional FBI check as well

YMMV

Payxibka,

Don't they ask for a 3rd bio when it comes time for naturalization as well? I thought I read it somewhere..

Yes - they will ask for a biometrics when applying for natz.

They actually ask for biometrics for a lot of things. When I requested my re-entry permit, I had to go for a biometrics.

$80 for giving them what they already have.... hmmm

To answer the original question by the OP, yes, it is normal to go for bio when lifting conditions.

Thanks guys! $80 each time, sheesh! I can't wait for the government run health care system. NOT!!

I was told by an IO in the Seattle office that biometrics are good for 15 months.

$80 each time sure is a whole lot for something they already have....

Try spending $80 for a biometrics fee for a under 14 child doing removing conditions... You pay the fee, but no biometrics is performed and then when the child turns 14 (regardless of the expiry of the greencard), you need to get a replacement card and have biometrics done at theat time (and of course pay another fee).

YMMV

I think $80 is a lot for biometrics, but then my co-worker reminded me that we had to pay more when we were hired.

To those that visit the USCIS office in Charlotte, make sure all your information is correct, even the dates that they stamp on your forms. Two of the workers there are pretty clueless and lazy but the manager is very sharp and she'll fix everything if there is a mistake.
