Approved!!!

Went to interview the 16th, and approved. That was the easiest part. I posted a full review of my experiences with the idiots at VFS.

As for mumbai itself - That place is LOUD and DIRTY! I swear mumbai people just can't keep their mouth closed for 5 seconds, and if they do keep it closed, their horns are blasting away. It's impossible to get a hotel near the consulate or the airport, so were stuck shuttling back and forth by taxi for 2 hours. The air is polluted and dusty. it's hotter than florida and it's soo dry and uncomfortable.

I had a flight reserved to come back the 23rd, I cancelled that flight just to get out of there the day after my wife got the visa in hand. Luckily for us it was cheaper by like 100 dollars to leave early.

POE at newark was something.. we got off the plane, walked a bit, got to the officer, as soon as my wife handed her the K3 visa and packet, she turned off her green light, and brought us downstairs. She was nice, we were having talk about how the snow was there, since apparently there was snowstorm at newark while we were gone. she brought us downstairs and had us sit down in front of some other immigration officers. After about 10 mins or so, one of them called her up, and had the packet opened in front of her, and asked the same questions that us consulate asked. she told the same thing she said to consulate. he said ok, stamped her passport and said were ok and sent us out the door.

Now for newark itself - that day a bunch of flights got cancelled, including our west palm beach flight at 7am. We had to collect all our luggage, wheel it over to ticketing, were all waiting in elite acess line for a continental flight and no one came, we went in their face and told them we needed a flight to get back to west palm beach, they put us on standby at a 10:30 flight and had us wheel all our luggage back to the luggage counter since continental is too stuck up to have someone help us on it.

we then go through TSA, who are a royal bunch of screwups. it seems the more busy a airport is, the more stupid the Thieving Stealing Asses behave. Preety much google TSA and my complaints are the same as theirs.

We get to the gate where our flight is, they delayed till 11am. Ok, we asked about the standby list, they had no information about it. they said they wouldn't know until its near time to boarding. We wait in the airport about 4 hours, got food, waited around. They called us and took us off standby list and put us in coach. We get to coach and all three of us were split up. I asked the lady sitting next to my wife if she can trade seats so i can be next to my wife and she was ok with it, she was very nice about it. After some time, the stewardess came up to me and said because I was gold elite and my dad was silver elite, here's two first class tickets. We go to the seats there and they were not next to each other and first class people are such snobs. My dad took one of the first class sears and I gave the first class ticket i had to the lady that moved so i can sit next to my wife, and enjoyed the rest of the flight next to my wife.

Now that we are finally home, were just going to take a break for awhile and later will file Adjustment of status..

The consular asked my wife:

Who is your husbands name

when did we get married

where does he live

where does he work

who are his parents in pictures

is it an arranged or love marriage

who introduced us

she asked for pictures of the wedding, specifically the part where we walk around the fire, since it was a hindu wedding.

she asked how many times i visited her, my wife replied that i visited 6 times and both me and my dad are waiting outside the consulate. I think it was that statement that really convinced the officer.

Congratulations, Baltar!

Thanks for the quick update.

I have wedding and dinner reception pictures. But not of a Hindu ceremony in particular because, well, we didn't have one. My husband is not a Hindu so I thought that made us ineligible for Hindu rituals. And I'm not really big on traditional rituals. We had a civil ceremony (signing in front of the district marriage registrar), followed by an exchange of rings and flower garlands in front of select family members, friends and guests. And then a dinner reception for about 150 guests. Hopefully, that will be sufficient.

Whats important to them is that family is involved - pictures of family members involved in the wedding, daily lives, etc.

I think what is also important is the amount of times in visiting back and forth, they asked us for hindu wedding pictures since well, my wife told them we were both hindu and did a ceremonial wedding.
