Can some1 help please. I need to know for how long can the US consulate hold my passport for visa stamping, My Interview was around 1st week of November.

The DOS said it has not received any update from the consulate and can reply to my query only after they hear from them.

Also when I call the consulate all i get is the recorded message.

Yes every week still no reply

Which consulate?

I would recommend you make an appointment and go to the consulate and ask them for your passport, if you need it. Otherwise they will just keep it until they are ready to issue the visa.

But to answer your question - they will keep it as long as they want to (but you absolutely can request to have it returned)

Montreal can be very very difficult to get hold of, as you have found.

So it's not that you need the passport, it's that you are wondering when you will get your visa.

I would recommend that your U.S. citizen spouse/fiancee call their congressman and ask them to look in to it for you.

Will talk to my wife and see what she can do, thanks
