My NOA2 notification was Dec. 18. My fiancee (in Manila) knew what the requirements would be for interview and set most of the wheels in motion a while ago to secure her requirements for her interview.

She had worked abroad in Dubai for 5+ years so needed a police clearance from UAE, which she just received this week.

The problem, and my question, is: it's made out to Canada embassy. In other words, it basically says to whom it may concern at Canada embassy, Vicky lived here these dates and has a clean criminal record in her years here.

Now, obviously, Vicky is coming here, to the US. Does the fact that she has a recent police clearance from UAE count, or are they going to "toss the baby with the bathwater" because it's mistakenly filled out for entry into Canada (how the heck did they come up with Canada anyway??)?

She checked at the UAE embassy in Manila, they told her there's nothing they can do to remedy it, she will have to re-submit to Dubai for a new clearance.

I told her to call the US embassy there in Manila in her daytime Wednesday.

I also told her to hold onto this copy, if they want something sent back to re-issue the replacement she should send copies only (a police clearance with incorrect subject line is better than no clearance at all).

Thoughts/ opinions?

Even if the embassy says it's ok should she pursue getting it corrected in case she gets the stickler at the interview?

did she live and work in canada too? if not it is still a police clearance and just tell embassy they put canada and mistake but they should accept

She's never been in Canada, I have no idea where Canada came from. Her request form clearly said for US entry purposes.

something happened that made UAE put canada in the police clearance...anyway, you're right in holding on to what you have now but you should write the UAE and request for a correct police clearance since the mistake was theirs.

As an update, her friend who had submitted these papers in UAE for her checked and the administrators there requested the original back. Unbeknownst to me she actually had the original and a certified/ stamped/ embossed copy. She returned the original with her brother-in-law who was home for the holidays and returned to UAE yesterday, who will give it back to her friend to submit for correction.

She still has the certified/ stamped/ embossed copy in case it doesn't arrive in time for her interview or there's another error in translation.
