Hello my husband had his visa interview today in Cairo Egypt and he said it went very good. The CO asked him very little questions and he knew all the answers but a couple things has me worried. I came to Egypt and stayed with my husband and his family for over 6 months so we could file the petititon DCF after the petition was approved I came back to the US because I have 3 small children. When my husband went for his interview today the CO never asked to see any emails or pictures or anything to prove our relationship. And then she said he was approved for his visa but then she gave him his passport back and said the embassy will call him in 1 week to send back his passport DHL and that he is in AP but that is normal and he is still approved. Has anyone experieced this or know why she would say he was approved but gave his passport back to him? Please help I am so worried

Try not to worry (and I know that it is hard because I worry all the time.) You can email the embassy or call DOS and ask them about the administrative process. They will be able to let you know if the embassy is doing document verification or if Washington is doing name checks.

I hope that your AP ends quickly. Best of luck!

Yes, I have heard of that. They told my husband after his interview, but we were put into AP.

AP is hard...you want to believe everything is ok, but too scared to totally believe it. They told us that ours would take four to six months. So, it is really good that they told your husband one week.

Try to stay positive and have faith. :star:

I have heard of that before, but I would worry too. Call them or send them an email. I hope it won't be too long for your husband!

From what I have seen if they DON'T keep the passport you are looking at a lengthy AP. They kept my husband's passport and our AP lasted a little over 3 weeks.

Did they keep your husband's passport?

No they told my husband he was approved but they did not keep his passport. The CO said within the week they would call him and have him send his passport back to them through DHL. I just dont understand this whole process, if he is approved like she said why wouldnt she keep his passport and why is he going through AP now if she said he was already approved. And I dont understand why some get their visas within a couple of weeks and some not for a couple of months of more. My husband said his interview went great and the CO was very nice and he answered all her questions correctly. Im just so worried I wish he would get his visa soon.
