One of the things I always get nervous about is air travel at Christmas. We always fly out on Christmas day. I book tickets for my wife and I to fly to Ontario every year arond the beginning of Novemebr. After that, I hope and pray that weather won't be a problem.

In 8 years of doing this we have never had an issue...until now. Apparently we have a major snow storm heading our way. It's supposed to start Wednesday evening and wrap up Friday night or Saturday morning. At the moment, although it is too early to be certain, predictions are for 1 foot + of snow.

I love a white Christmas....but this is a bit overboard.

I may be hitching a ride with Santa on Christmas to try and make it back home. When I was talking to my son, he suggested I move to Florida so I didn't have to worry about snow. ( He also thought it would be a good idea so that, when he finally gets to move here, we could go to Disney on the weekends)

Hope everyone here has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Wishing you safe and speedy travels!

My nieces flight out of Calgary to see her parents in the U.S. was delayed yesterday so she missed her connecting flights and ended up arriving 4-5 hours late.

You've been lucky never to have had a problem. Here's hoping this year will go smooth as well. Last christmas I was in Nova Scotia and my honey flew up from Wisconsin. What was suppose to be a six hour total flight, ended up being three days before he reached me, and lost luggage that was never found till the day before he went back home...he came for two weeks. They flew him all over hells creation trying to get him on a connecting flight, then the agent I spoke to told me they could fly him into Montreal right away, could I pick him up there......yes, its only a 14 hr drive, let me jump on Santa's sleigh as he goes by. As I was trying to get him on a flight that came into Halifax, he actually jumped on another plane to Washington in hopes of a connecting flight, and it paid off. He arrived Christmas Eve at 1 in the afternoon. I was so happy to see him! Oh, this probably depressed you...wasn't my intent. We kinda laugh at the whole thing now. Take care, and hopefully smooth flying for you both ways. Have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the visit.

Yeah, last year my wife was supposed to be flying from Baltimore to Seattle via Denver on Christmas Eve, but severe weather in Denver caused the flight to be canceled, and there were no other flights headed towards Seattle that afternoon. As a result, she had to fly out on Christmas day, and we didn't get back to the Vancouver area until around 7:00 PM...meaning that we missed Christmas dinner with the family. We wound up having Chinese food for our first Christmas dinner together.

I really want to have a proper (and FULL!) Christmas together this year!

Oh you guys are freaking me out!

I always have minor panic attacks before traveling and I watch the weather and the FAA Flight delay charts like a maniac. You know why it is, right? SInce we're separated from our spouses/loved ones every minute counts and any delay is just heartbreaking. Not just for me but for all you guys too.

I'm flying to Baltimore tomorrow at 7:30am. I took the earliest possible flight so that if there were delays, I might make it. Who knows right?

Fingers crossed for all of us. Flight delays are SUCH a bummer.

:)

Luck to all of us traveling this week to be with our families.

My wife gets off work at 6:00 every day, and she works tomorrow...so flying on Christmas Eve was the only option for her, really. Otherwise I would have strongly urged her to fly out on the 23rd.

Baltimore airport has been fine for the last couple of days -- no delays. It's just Reagan that has been brutalized by cancellations. You'll be JUST FINE, froggie!

(Total off-topic musing here: why does "canceled" only have one L while "cancellation" has two? Hmm...)

Really, eh? Do you know why Reagan's still a mess? I was originally supposed to fly into Reagan but they were kind of enough to change my ticket to BWI when I caught them having a seat sale JUST AFTER I bought my ticket.

Yeah, I kind of had a conniption at the poor Air Canada person who took my cool. But geezus.

Anyway, slightly off topic, I apolgize.

Oh, i am also stuffed to the gills with proof of ties to Canada, I hope.

This is SO cool, this technically could be my last visit! I may not have to leave the next time. How odd and cool that'll be. ':)

I don't exactly know why Reagan was so bad. I'm guessing they didn't have as much snow removal / deicing equipment as the other two local airports. IAD (Dulles) and Baltimore do a lot more international flights too, so perhaps they get a bigger budget? I've never flown through Dulles, so I really don't know what it's like. Reagan is a relatively small airport.

Just be glad you're flying into Baltimore!

Here's to that! I am NOT taking any more extra 'L's out of my stuff. No way.

OH and I apologize for the really bad spelling and stuff in that previous post.

I am currently eating a bag of Hawkins Cheezies and I got cheeze dust all over my fingers.
