FORM DS-156K Question

Hi Everyone,

A quick question concerning the DS-156K form. There are certain documents that are required to accompany this form. One document is Evidence of Engagement to fiance(e). I have not bought her an engagement ring because I am saving money to bring her here. What constitutes evidence of engagement? An email saying I want to marry her? I'm a little confused about this. Thanks...

Hi,

I don't have one either before,during the interview the CO won't mind if she has an engagement ring or not. I just brought with me every single evidence that we have bonafide relationships.

You need to include a fiance letter of intent to marry. There are examples of this letter in the "Example Forms" section of this website. It is a good idea to send an updated letter of intent so she can bring it to her interview.

We prepared the letter of intent, but since I was there, I guess that was enough proof for them. They didn't ask for that letter (or for pictures). Of course, each embassy is different, but if you're at the interview, that's definitely evidence of intent.
