Have any Moroccans here in the U.S. or their s.o.'s found any mustard that resembles in the least bit the mustard that it used in Morocco? We have tried Dijon, spicy brown, etc. but can't find anything that tastes close to the mustard over there. My husband says that the mustard has the same flavor throughout Europe and is not specific to Morocco. I don't know if he's correct on that or not.

I have done internet searches and came up empty handed. I have only managed to find a page for STAR brand ketchup. :(

I never noticed a different in the taste of mustard in Europe/Morocco vs. here. But of course that doesn't mean that there isn't a difference. Why don't you try a European imported mustard?

Can get some nice German mustards (called Senf) from:

http://gdcom.stores.yahoo.net/groceries1-condiments.html

Some may be found in certain local grocery stores - typically American (yellow) mustards seem to have a different taste - German/European mustards can be quite good (IMO).

Not to be a bummer, but doesn't Grey Poupon (and other dijon mustards) contain wine? If your MENA SO is ok with that, then fine. But maybe they'd want to know, to make their own decision about it. I mean, who would think mustard might contain alcohol?

OP - Good luck finding the mustard you're looking for!

Not to worry...the alcohol is burned off in the cooking. :)
