How the heck do I find 'real' Russian Groceries/SHops in Denver

I am not really looking for specifics on "Go to Leetsdale and Oneida and look for a shop here"; but more of a general How-to find local Russian shops in any city. Dexknows.com (From Qwest) has proved to be less than helpful. International Market does not necessarily mean "Russian Market". Russiandenver.com has a list of 7 possible shops, and I hope they pan out - but if they don't I'm not sure where else to turn other than Google and hope I can punch in useful terms.

Use Google and/or references from people that you know and then go there and investigate. My experience is that going to a market, restaurant, etc. you will find someone to offer guidance and recommendations.

Google is your friend.

Specifically for Denver (since that was in your title), there's a Russian store at 970 South Monaco Parkway. There is also a Ukrainian store just North of Ralston on Kipling. It's on the West side, kinda easy to miss, in a squat little building. Both are quite good.

You could always move to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. You'll be the tourist there and it will be like she never left Russia  . Just kidding.

I am gonna have the same problem here in Charleston.

Chris, I know you are joking, but on a serious note while Brighton Beach does offer a great variety of Russian food/restaurants, the people's attitute there has nothing to do with modern Russia. I feel like their mentality got stuck somewhere in late 80s in USSR and they behave accordingly.

Yes, Oksana I understand what you are saying. I was just tring to be silly. Zhanna said the same as you did. We spent some time in Brighton Beach each time Zhanna came to visit. Zhanna said it was nice to be around other Russian ppl while abroad but she also said it was nothing like home for her, except that all the ppl there were Russian or of Russian heritage.

I was just kidding. But she was so happy to be able to go to eat the food there, and I was excited to have her indroduce me to Russian cusine :) .
