Help! Sending a package!

as I will always say "Money is always approptiate"

Send her some cabbage.....

Oh, and I agree with this one. The romantic notions of sending jewelry or a laptop come to a screeching halt when one realizes the expense, hassle and risk of sending any valuables quickly over there. The only realistic alternative is to send in a Balikbayan box, but that is a slow boat to Manila of at least 6 weeks. Or give the money to a trusted relative who can buy something locally and present it to Pinay on your behalf.

TCO, Speaking of packages, I was watching TV last night when Vince the Slap Chop guy came on, and finally I gave in and could not stand it any longer. I ordered one Plus the Graty. But I got it off Ebay for $5 less than Vince the Douchebag demands. I figured I will get one for my girl when she is soon here. She is just gonna LOVE my nuts!

Yes She Will

The funny part is, I moved into my new house and it was a "Short Sale" aka Pre Foreclosure and one thing they left in kitchen was a "Slap Chop".

I just thought to myself isn't this Classic........

You gotta take that as a sign of destiny or something. Maybe even a little spooky.

My husband send me a necklace too. He mail it on USPS with tracking and he also states what's inside. He also send me another package and it contains CD's he burn for me. Now, the CD's arrived but not the necklace. What he did he complain to USPS and the Post Office in the Philippines and tells them he wants the package back. Guess what, I got a note in the mail that I have a package there and I have to claim it. When I got there they let me sign first that I receive the package good, they would not give it to me if I don't sign first. After I sign they gave it to me but it was opened. I don't think I will have got it if my husband didn't complain that he wanted it back. So maybe you could give it to her when you visit her there or when she arrives here. :)

My wife just got her package with the necklace in it today (18th). The box wasnt tampered with. I guess the slip said that it was delivered on the 16th but she just got it today. I would recommend putting it in an actual priority box or something else. Last year i sent my wife a cellphone and some earrings along with some other stuff. I didnt put the cellphone or earrings on the customs form. I guess it is a crapshoot either way. If you dont put it on the form...you cant claim it if it goes missing...if you do, it could end up not making it all together. My wife didnt tell me if she had to pay extra for it or not though.

When I got mine, I had to pay like Php30 for it. And another thing my husband sent was a book, which I never did get. When I was here in US after a few months the package arrived....Talk about slow!!!

I would find someone who deals exotic pets and buy a large sea turtle. Train the turtle how to navigate the ocean to the Philippines. Strap the package to the back of the sea turtle, and make sure that the package is water proof. This would be free shipping, you wouldn't have to deal with those nasty customs, and it would still be faster than Phil Post.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a turtle with a laser beam attached to its head.

A good idea, but someone would be serving turtle stew two minutes after the turtle got on Philippine soil. :jest:

I learned my lessons trying to send gifts. Between disappearing packages or excise tax it is risky to send gifts. We now use balikbayan boxes. The four weeks it takes can be faster than USPS International Priority mail.
