Manila (Embassy) Interview Procedures

I am looking for anyone who has specific information on the K-1 interview procedures in Manila. My fiancee has her interview scheduled for 4 January and I will be there also. For my sons us citizenship appointment we were both part of the interview (of course). However I am hearing that I will not be able to be part of her interview?? That does not sound right?

My question: are both Fiance and Fiancee able to participate in the interview? I am going regardless and will force my way into it if they resist but I am just curious of what happens.

Thanks for any info!

It is up to the interviewing officer whether or not the US citizen can attend. Some will let you sit in while others will ask you to wait outside in the waiting area. There is no way to know ahead of time if you can sit in or not. But regardless you will be there to support your fiancee.

Please look at the "About Me" page in our profile for our complete K-1 and AOS processing timeline.

I'm worried about your attitude of "Forcing" your way into the interview. You can't be confrontational. You must dance to their music. Instead, try to finesse your way and use tact. Manila is an easy embassy. If your relationship is real, and you have all the required documents, you will be fine. Good Luck.

As already mentioned it is up to the interviewing officer. We just finished ours, and the lady CO had no problem with me being in there. She asked me two questions. What type of work do I do, and what cause the breakup up me & my ex wife.

I saw maybe four or five couples there that day all were let in during the CO interview, 1 was ask to wait outside for a few minutes then let in a few minutes later.

Congrats. First, you need to get through the medical exam at St. Lukes in Manila. You should plan to do that at least a week in advance of the interview or the interview will get rescheduled. St. Lukes needs a dew days after the medical exam to forward the results to the Embassy otherwise there will be no interview. And also that assumes nothing goes wrong during the exam. January 4 is awful close to New Years so I suggest you better make hotel arrangements and to St. Lukes SOON! I was told unless requested I could not be present during the interview. However, my wife said there were plenty of Kano present. Double check your papers.

Good luck

if you check the usem website, only the person who has business ( e.g. interview) at the embassy will be allowed inside but many fiances end up getting in as well, -proof of the leniency of the usem, so don't worry, chances are you will get in too.
