As my fiancee's interview date approaches, I was looking at the embassy reviews and I see that most of the CO questions asked when was the last time that the petitioner went to Nigeria. Well the last time that I went to Nigeria was 1985 when I was 2 years old. We havent been since because my parents are not finished with the land. But the last time that I saw my fiancee was April 12, 2009 in Dubai. Will that be a problem?

They are looking to see how often you two visited. Many people file after only one visit and Nigeria likes multiple visits. How many times you visited can be important there. You do have an advantage that you are also from Nigeria so maybe they will be less insane with their demands.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

No, rt shouldn't be a problem. The CO is interested in the last time you were with your fiancee. Most couples meet/visit in their fiancee's home country. But thats not true for the two of you.

Practice with your fiancee so that he has a good interview. If a CO asks when was the last time you visited Nigeria he should respond along the lines of, "She has not visited me in Nigeria, but we saw each other most recently in Dubai this April. And..etc...before that." In practicing his interviewing skills make sure he is familiar with the entire package that was submitted. You should have a copy and he should have a copy (which he should bring to the interview). He should understand what evidence was submitted and why. That way if he has any difficulty he can refer to the relevant evidence. Make sure he is balanced in knowing when an answer of "yes" or "no" is appropriate, when more detail is to his benefit, and when more detail is not necessary.

Hello Nwanyioma,

While I don't know much specifically about Nigeria's embassy, I do know that as long as you and your financee have seen each other at least once within the past two years you should be fine.

All the best.

ALL things work TOGETHER for GOOD!
