Is there a particular reason USCIS seems to process the NOA2 faster for the K-1 vs. IR1/CR1? Why is that? It seems to me that the spouse is a closer relative than a fiance (no disrespect meant for fiance's at all!) but they should at least get equal billing, I would think. Is this something that is for spouses of all countries or is it unique to MENA countries?

K-1=I-129 and CR-1/IR1=I-130.... K-1=visa and CR1/IR1=greencard

09/22/2006 - I-129F sent

02/14/2007 - Interview in Rio de Janeiro - VISA APROVED!

03/03/2007 - Flight out to States

12/21/2007 - Wedding!

AOS timeline

02/27/2008 - l-485 sent

04/29/2008 - AOS Biometric

05/01/2008 - I-94 Expired

07/22/2008 - AOS denied

10/28/2008 - In removal proceeding

01/14/2009 - Flew back to Brazil ;(

02/10/2009 - Hubby flew to Brazil ;)

IR1 timeline

09/23/2008 - I-130 sent

11/06/2009 - Interview in Rio de Janeiro - CO need an Advisory Opinion (sent an email to DHS with my I-94 and court order)

12/02/2010 - Hubby went back to the U.S.A ;(

Yea the difference is the spousal visa gets a green card - with a K1 the fiance comes here, then marriage in 90 days, then apply for green card. It takes longer for the spousal visa because all the paperwork for the greencard is processed too.

May 11 '09 - Case Approved 10 yr card in the mail

June - 10 yr card recieved

Feb. 19, 2010 - N-400 Application sent to Phoenix Lockbox

April 3, 2010 - Biometrics

May 17,2010 - Citizenship Test - Minneapolis, MN

July 16, 2010- Retest (writing portion)

October 13, 2010 - Oath Ceremony

Journey Complete!

IMO it's worth the longer wait and I wish we would have gone that way. For our K1 DH came in January and didn't have a green card/work permit until almost the beginning of December...long hard wait!
